Very excited, possibly overprepared! I've seen a few advice threads but is there anything you guys would recommend doing while I'm there? Obviously there's plenty of acts to see and stumbling around to do, but it'd be nice to have some ideas for between acts. Only one of us has been before.

I saw something about climbing up the big hill at night without turning around until you get to the top, maybe some more things like that.

Same here, was convinced I was going to pack light, but I think I've got everything I need. Finished work today for 2 weeks, I'm excited, slightly nervous for some reason! Counting the days til Thursday!

Fluctuating between lunatic hysterical euphoria and a healthy anxiety about the weather! I've done horrendous weather at festivals and still had a brilliant time, but I really want my first GF not to be narrated by the weather, especially as the line-up is, for me, stellar. I'm confident from obsessional Weather Thread Watch© that it's going to be a mostly dry festival, but I'm greedy and would love some properly warm sunshine on my bones as I try to take in all that Worthy Farm holds.

Still fighting the almost absurd volume of the line-up to compress it into a 'plan', whilst being mindful of sticking to my promise of not attempting to prescribe or over-engineer how I want my festival to go.

Just one shift left at work on Monday during which I will do my level best not to be entirely distracted, as that can have fairly significant consequences in my case! Then Tuesday to finish prepping before the thrill of the first coach out of Birmingham.

I love the period leading up to my annual festival, whichever it may be, but given the drama of securing my ticket in October, this has been unlike anything I've experienced previously. After the festival, I really do need to try to think about something else, at least some of the time. Or will I be consumed by preparation for Ticket Day all over again?!

Most of all, I'm so excited to meet as many people as I possibly can. I feel more 'at home' at a festival than almost anywhere else, because of the communal feelings of so many like-minded people. I just know that, like in so many other ways, Glastonbury will be a level apart from pretty much anywhere else in terms of the vibe.

Have a wonderful festival everyone, and thanks for letting me join the family. The forum ride that got me here has been an absolute pleasure...including Matt42!

:)

Firstly dont worry about the weather, no one really notices when there drinking for 5 days, unless its extreme, i suggest pitching tent, put a few beers in a bag, and do, a full lap of the festival, while its light, and your relatively sober, sit and have a break at the stone circle for example, if something catches your eye, go for it, no plans, no timetable just wander, take a highlighter pen, sit up at stone circle, and mark up your time table book with your must see acts, you will get it on entry attached to a Laynard

Thanks, wayne.

I've had lots of tips and advice over the last few months, for which I am very grateful. As I said, I have very much promised myself not to plan too much, but I very much intend to spend a massive chunk of Wednesday (hopefully pitched by 1030-1100h) walking and walking and walking. I am really fit, so I have no worries about that. I'm going to try to at least see as many areas as I can and just quietly (and possibly slightly tearily - I'm an emotional tit at times) take it all in. Aiming to do that, stopping wherever it feels right, until the eFests meet, at which point I can feel all self-conscious and disappoint all those who have written nice things too, and about, me on these boards over the last few months!

:)

Yup. Sorry.

Always jealous of first timers. Remember there's many more to come - don't feel you have to see it all by a long shot. Took me many festivals and wouldn't take a single one of those back to see it all quicker.

Love that analogy slash. Exactly where I'm at. Nervous but Cant wait!

Also just realised whilst I've done the research I actually haven't acted much on it. Don't have a torch. No waterproof trousers (might just swerve these). No baby wipes (eeeeee). i wanted a ground sheet as well to carry around and make use around the site. Ahh better get to the shops. :(

In the next few days I'm either going to get sacked, sectioned or just straight up explode with excitement

I genuinely don't know how I'm going to cope with the coach journey there, if I get to the gates and haven't pissed myself with excitement it's going to be a miracle

First timer, coming solo from Australia. Super excited and nervous, but not really sure why! I think once the tent is pitched i will be fine as i can then wander and enjoy Any must do suggestions?!

Dude! Get yourself pitched up, go for a walk, and just let the place make suggestions for you...it's great at that. You'll have a great time. Enjoy it.

For me the number one thing to do on the wednesday or Thursday is take a walk up to the top of the stone circle and watch the sunset over the festival especially if it's your first time. Will take your breath away. Still does it for me after 8 years.

Yes but.... walk up BUT DON'T LOOK ROUND UNTIL YOU'VE REACHED THE TOP.  Then turn round and the view will blow your mind with excitement.

The hill walk near the Glastonbury sign with the sun setting is an amazing experience - I love doing that every Wednesday. The best advice is to get lost - wonder, wonder and wonder some more. You will find amazing things and completely lose track of time.

I am loving all the levels of excitement though - I am sure you will all have a brilliant time :D

    • Rotten communication. Actually god awful. Posting sporadically on IG, closing Mordor only to reopen and cause some serious carnage. Left the festival as it got too much for my 16year old daughter. She was devastated about Alex G and Mac…but TV girl could have saved it. Took us until 1220 and already home to find out they might/are playing. Pish.    and on another note, this festival has lost its bastard soul. Gone are the wee tents with local sellers selling vinyl, t shirts etc, now you can buy a 50 f**king eur official T-shirt. The ar*e is truely out of this event now. I went to Porto for the first time last year and it was fab. I love Barcelona and the line up is always stacked, but this festival is a corporate loss take. Hopefully a better day tomorrow.
    • f**king horrendous and seems they couldn’t run an egg and spoon race.  zero info and the crush waiting to get in to see Massive Attack was potentially disasterous. Zero info, no stewards at all and was told that the whole evening was cancelled, when we got to the exit. Because it rained. First time attendee and i’ve got onsay, i’m far from impressed. Scalping bastard taxis asking €37 plus for an €11 fare too. Wonderdul.
    • Rumours are it's called The Lost Tour. In the US in September. Ireland in November (so UK+Europe a good bet around November/early December).
    • Hey guys, is there a group going for any solo y not goers this year?? I couldn’t miss out once I saw the acts but it’s just me and would be great to meet some others:))
    • After deciding to abandon the festival, here's a few of my thoughts (mostly negative tbf).    On the positive side - was it just me or were there a few more urinals than last year? Seemed to help the queues at the loos a bit from what i saw. Plus they had at least had some foresight and had a few more covered areas in the VIP areas.    Now on the negatives.  The weather was admittedly pretty crap but it wasn't apocalyptic. How the actual f**k are bits of the main stage falling off in those conditions?  Then the communication was awful, there's a load of people who left the site because they were told by security guards/other personnel that there would be no more acts on the main stage this evening.  You have an app Primavera, use it! Yes, there's a shitload going on I'm sure but communication with the festivalgoers should be one of the top priorities. You failed.    And I'm not usually somebody who buys into the whole "oh this is hugely unsafe and it's lucky people weren't hurt" narrative, but all the above led to movements of people that were genuinely unsafe.  Evacuating Mordor entirely (again... Why???) and then having a horde of people trying to get in because they thought they were going to Massive Attack was insane.  And given a lot of people basically abandoned ship around 10.30pm the crush at both the exit to the festival and the entrance to the Metro was pretty dangerous.   Conditions happen, most people will get that....but the contingencies have to be better.
