Jake Bugg doesn't fly, he rattles in on the unmistakable vintage VW camper, that could only be driven by Jake Bugg. He gets out his luggage, it's all old rock 'n' roll gear from the 60s, the sort of retro attire which could only be the original and not-at-all shit and derivative style of Jake Bugg. As he slips on a bit of mud, he emits an "oh bugger", in the unique mumble which is so often the delivery technique for Bugg's own delightful brand of authentic wit. Bugg pulls out his acoustic guitar, an instrument which is has become synonymous with the new and original genre that Bugg has crafted. Bugg plucks at the handful of chords that primary school children are first taught, with an expertise well beyond his 19 years, the crowd are literally bored stiff with rapture at this new and exciting kick up the arse for British rock.

Marvellous

Gotta be someone on tour at 10 (maybe a little more) days notice.

Kylie's playing Hyde Park on Sunday so must have a big enough stage set/ routine to go with it. Ten years and all that!!

Kylie has to be a consideration - but surely if she got brought in, it'd be as sub to Flo?

Probably one of the more realistic possibilities going around - I'm fairly confident that Flo will get the nod and any new act will be 2nd or 3rd from top.

Says the guy trolling with suggestions of James..

Flo is a bigger act at this stage than Kylie. By far, and that's especially true in a Glastonbury context. If you disagree, fine - I'm not going to debate this with you because I've seen enough of your posts to know that you're not credible.

Hahahahahahahaaaaaa.....

Not credible eh? Fuck me says the guy coming out with your load of utter bollocks!

So we'll forget Kylie's weeks long residences at the MEN n O2 eh?

We'll forget Kylie's legend status?

We'll forget Kylie's former headlining slot?

No we'll go with Flo's Radio 1 w*nkathon as reason eh despite doing next to SFA (and no not Super Furry Animals) for the past few years and the fact that hardly anyone who doesn't listen to R1 gives a shit about her...

Ypu there is no debate, you are clueless fella!

Oh and I've posted exactly why James could do it, they might not be your cup of tea but its a more realistic proposition than the rubbish you're spouting!

I don't know if you're trolling or just an idiot. It's not 2005 anymore

Hell even if it was 2005 James wouldn't be anywhere near a headline spot

Yes. And it does make sense. (albeit not without any doubt)

Not sure if it's a clue that the headliner is TBA not TBC

I guess we'll see soon enough...

Ok, time for some perspective here because it seems people are losing it.

The statement issued by GFL is clearly a holding statement, probably quickly drafted so that they had something out in public. It would have been written with the intention of getting something out there. When the dust has settled, ie not today and maybe not even tomorrow I'm sure we'll see something of more substance.

Same applies to the lineup page change - they know Foo Fighters have cancelled, so they've updated the page to reflect that. I'm sure when there's something to announce, a more substantial change will come probably at the very least including different set times as not many acts are going to want 2 and a half hours.

You realise that Emily Eavis isn't personally editing the pages on the web site? The person/team that makes the changes won't be privy to the booking decisions, all they'll know is what they're told and what they've been told probably isn't much more than is already out in the public domain.

Looking for clues in the difference in TBA/TBC? Are you for real? You're putting way more thought into this than the people who manage the GFL website / EE app will have done when asked to make a quick change at 10pm on a Tuesday night.

Doesn't anyone remember Emilys comments about how Flo could be a headliner but wasn't this year? In that context it'd be fairly insulting for them to bring a relatively weak headliner in over her - so I'm pretty sure that won't happen. Unless the festival can attract someone pretty big (Prince, Blur being the only 2 realistic ones I've heard), then Flo is likely to get bumped up and any new act will be further down the bill.

Yep, as I thought, just more trolling.

What were yoir views on Kanye West? Serious question.

Not having a pop, but at a guess you are similar age to me. (Im 30) and probably are into similar music for a large part.

I think you are discounting how big Florence is, because you don't like her.

Neither do I, but she is massive. I didnt realise how big kanye was in this country til he was announced.

My mate at work said about the headliners "but no one is intetested in the foo fighters any more, they should be booking Radiohead"

I don't doubt that Radiohead would be great, but he didn't think Foo Fighters were big enough either... Cos he isnt into them.

We all let our owm view blind ourselves.

    • Maybe hopeful but get Knocked Loose on the Sunday opposite the legend. Similar to the slot Turnstile had in 2022. Would be absolutely phenomenal.
    • One of my personal favourite bands at the minute - MUNA. Was very surprised not to see them booked in 2023 with their last album but hopefully they'll be around next year. Very fun new album from these guys and, as aforementioned, another standout for me at Big Weekend.
    • Absolutely second this. Were great at Big Weekend and already have a great catalogue of songs forming so far. Would love to see them on the farm!
    • A mixed first day for us. First of all, we were honestly quite shocked that there was no security check at all at the VIP entrance around 7:30 PM. No bag check, nothing. I’ve attended Primavera many times over the years and this felt surprisingly lax for an event of this size. Did anyone else experience the same?   Another disappointment was the communication regarding the weather situation. Primavera has some of the best sound systems and speaker setups in the festival world, yet somehow they were not able to make a single clear announcement explaining what was happening. Instead, people were expected to read tiny messages on screens in Mordor while thousands were left wondering what was going on. A simple and direct audio announcement would have gone a long way.   On a lighter note, this guy absolutely made my day. Sitting right in front of the Estrella Damm terrace, wearing nothing but a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of Converse All Stars, he remained completely unbothered by the rain. While everyone else was looking for shelter, he sat there wearing sunglasses, calmly watching the crowd as if he was watching a movie.   Absolute main character energy!
    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
