Crazyfool01
This is why the festival is so superb and keeps me returning , new and wonderful places , it just keeps on evolving and improving , every area with so much thought and time going into it , thanks Michael and Emily and all the creative types that put so much work and ideas in . 2 weeks
5co77ie
The thing I circled is this though, right? Have we decided that's not Tor View? It's not Tor View Tor View is at the top of the Theatre and Circus fields near Glebeland. This is I think the new BBC viewing area. Dukeicon
Weird, because in the video they suggest this is the view from it: And that is clearly from a position up near Worthy View. I'm guessing the video is wrong. I think that shot of the festival is unrelated to Tor View Lookout. It's the structure that ME is climbing and being interviewed from. In the interview you can see a shot from it back towards the Pyramid down through the markets near to the cider bus.

I think that's Goose Hall just visible bottom right. The Tor would be further left. Edited June 10, 2015 by 5co77ie
mr gumby
So basically, Tor View sounds to me like a similar idea to the Park ribbon tower, somewhere to climb up and get a good view across the site, only from the east rather than south. Anyone heard if there'll be anything more to it?
5co77ie
I guess it will be in the programme
ryan.smith
Seems strange that they'd include it on the line-up pages if it was just a lookout area though ... they don't include the Ribbon Tower on there do they? Must be some sort of performances going on...

stephos83
Watch the linked video & you'll see that structure you have circled is not the Tor View Lookout. This structure is The Temple at The Park

ThomThomDrum
On a map if you see Williams Green, Astrolabe and Acoustic as the 3 points of a triangle then the Tor View will be approximately in the middle of that triangle I reckon. Here they usually have late night performances so Tor View may be both a venue and a viewing platform

deebeedoobee
Really? Where in the clip does it explain where on site it is? At 0.24 and 1.35 it has ME on the platform with the Pyramid in the background Edited June 10, 2015 by deebeedoobee
ThomThomDrum
At 1.35 it has ME on the platform with the Pyramid in the background Yes and based on that people on here have been speculating as to its position. But such a camera shot would not make such speculative answers definitive. Also the view shot as they talk over the clip about the view from the platform confuses the viewer as they use footage from another point on the site but the viewer is easily led to believe that the shot is the view from the platform hence the confusion above

The view in the video looks like this: I think the white tent on the right is this one: The only place you can get a view like that is from Worthy View (EDIT: or perhaps flagtopia actually - the tree in the foreground on the video looks like the one at the top of Pennards): Edited June 10, 2015 by Cheesey
frostypaw
But such a camera shot would not make such speculative answers definitive.Actually yes it does - the pyramid is not symmetrical so it makes it 100% definitive - the path layout below even more soI reckon it's right by the hedge just after Ped Gate C in what I think is Glebeland, roughly where there is usually a little acoustic stage and cafe, across the road from Mutoid Waste or, if you go back that far, where all the inflatables wereWasn't it blazing saddles on the left at some point too?Either way. It's a rather disappointing viewing tower.Shall I post the video again? Clearly zero people read the whole thread these days.... grump. deebeedoobee
I shall clearly have to whip myself with nettles and crawl back into my box. Cheesey
https://www.facebook.com/theatreandcircusfields/posts/1663454433885146 The view in those pictures: is clearly not the same as the view in the BBC video: Conclusion - the BBC report is a load of balls.
