Ahh so jealous of that! Yeah that's a fair comment, although I do probably listen to their Alive 2007 album once a month! I'd hope they'd try something similar with a new tour as I feel an album tour of RAM would be really tricky considering some of the songs of that album wouldn't translate very well to a live show.

Daft Punk have the money to put together a proper live show together, easily. It could be incredible if they did it right.

What about American acts? The Black Keys is a blindingly obvious one and will headline when they're next available to. Maybe Imagine Dragons and Vampire Weekend. A few years ago I'd have said The Gaslight Anthem but given their low slot this year despite being bigger than a lot of the bands on the Main Stage I can't see FR giving them a headline slot.

Also in the Vampire Weekend camp to headline, would love for there next album to do well, do an arena tour and then headline. Loads of great material and singles that people will know to do so. Would much rather them than The Black Keys because TBK are so very boring live, however MB has also wanted them to headline as he said so a few years back.

Still don't think gaslight should be that low

Was expecting minimum 4th down considering last tour they did 2 sold out nights at the Apollo plus alley palley

Absolute no chance on vampire weekend headliners I don't think. Judging by ticket sales frank turners probs got more of a chance and thatll never happen

If they keep on their current trajectory it'll happen eventually. Though I'm not sure if they'll do Reading any time soon - possibly mid-size festivals on the next album and Glastonbury on the one after? Though I'll admit me being a huge fan is probably clouding my judgement there.

I can see them maybe doing latitude next yr. Think it all depends on if the next album pushes them further. So far I'd say there a high end academy band.

Manchester Apollo

Alley palley etc

But they played arenas the last time they did a tour in the UK though

Anyway I hope Vampire Weekend do get big enough to headline. I'd be down for that

Don't have figures to back it up but Vampire Weekend's last album clearly showed the band maturing, becoming a band which can be taken seriously. That resulted in a really strong critical reception to it, topping a shitload of year end lists. Doesn't obviously result in an immediate shoot in popularity but in the long term it's set them up to be a really big deal some time in the future. Of course that depends on a lot of other factors but so far they're as on track as anyone.

Didn't sell too great what I've heard.

By the sounds of it could of filled 2 nights at the Apollo, alley palley easily but I don't know the exact figures

I agree there albums all had very good reviews but think they need some main stream exposure again like they did when they were breaking out

I think if they make it they'll be more the Arcade Fire type of headliner - not necessarily the most exposed band in the mainstream, but still recognised as a solid headliner.

Think Florence and Slipknot will be our 'new' headliners next year, with Foos returning.

In 2017 I expect to see Kasabian return with Royal Blood as a 'new' headliner. Headliner #3 is anyone's guess.

I reckon Arctic Monkeys and Biffy Clyro are guaranteed to return at some point from 2018 onwards, we'll probably see Paramore return too as a headliner in their own right.

Any 'new' headliners from 2018 onwards probably don't even exist yet.

I doubt that. Remember how long it took Biffy to work their way up to headline? Just because a band isn't headline sized yet doesn't mean things can't change in the next few years.

    • I think most people prefer RiP if they’ve done both sites. I think RaR is just more iconic and recognisable. Saying that I’ve only done RiP and I loved it!
