Patti Smith

I'm hoping she plays Saturday as ideally I'd like to finish off with the Chemical Brothers on Sunday.

Is there a reason she can't play Saturday do you know ?

No reason other than three nights in a row with a trek across countries in between shows is a bit of a pain in the arse, but Patti is immortal so there's nothing physically stopping her.

Cheers. Looks like Sunday then. Not a problem at all to miss the Chems

Any reason why people are assuming she's going to headline somewhere? She's a big name, big legacy, stinks of Pyramid to me.

.... Because... Because... Because it's perfect, that's why!

You've planted a seed of doubt in my mind here.

So excited about this - my must see of the weekend. Can see her on the Pyramid (a la Nick Cave/Jack White slot in previous years). Horses is a cracking album from start to finish.

"Jesus died for somebodies sins but not mine"

See you there!!

She played the John Peel last time I saw her at Glastonbury and it was pretty rammed. Was hoping the rumours were true on the definite list for me.

if you mean in 1999 it was not called that at the time - it was renamed the John Peel Stage in 2004 it used to be called ' the new tent ' or ' The New Bands Tent '

I think she might be on the Pyramid.

Has anyone looked at the text version of the lineup on the Glastonbury site? Whilst it probably isn't in much order lower down, I think the first chunk is Pyramid from Foos to Patti and then Other Stage headliners/subs from Chems to Ben.

FOO FIGHTERS
KANYE WEST
SPECIAL GUESTS
FLORENCE & THE MACHINE
PHARRELL WILLIAMS
ALT-J
LIONEL RICHIE
MOTÖRHEAD
MARY J. BLIGE
ALABAMA SHAKES
PALOMA FAITH
PATTI SMITH
THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS
RUDIMENTAL
DEADMAU5
JAMIE T
BEN HOWARD

Doubt she'd be billed below paloma faith or alabama shakes on the pyramid

I'm pretty excited to see her close the Park, never seen a headliner on there and I love the area. That's what I'd want at the moment, but I'd obviously be really happy with closing WH as well.

This is my must see of the weekend - what a legend!

I've always had to miss her gigs in the past for one reason or another, but the fact that I will now get to see her at Glastonbury is making me very very happy!! :)

Patti Smith saw her at Latitude 2006 she was fantastic

Seconded. I loved the stick she gave the photographers in the pit when she came on. Told them all to get out to Palestine and photograph the horror out there. Always rely on Patti to make her point clearly!

Be nice if she did some stuff in the poetry tent like she did that weekend.

I had the pleasure of watching some of Tom Verlaine with Lenny Kaye later that day. Lovely man.

Sunday on the Park would be great for me (assuming it ends early again). And then over to the Pyramid for the mystery 3rd headliner

Does the Sunday Park headliner clash with the Other stage subs? Not watched a Sunday headliner there

    • Wow, way to insult the guy.
    • yougov seems to be the outlier when it comes to the Burnham bounce. But also, being a bounce, it was never going to last, but with Reform maybe on the way down, and Tories holding steady, we could end up with Reform, Labour and Tories all between 20 and 25% for a while. A lot of it at moment with Burnham is vibes, and the vibes are currently sexy and are pulling support back from Greens, but the autumn budget is key...will they go big and bold, or will they do very little because they're thinking a 2027 general election?
    • Attended a gig at Piece Hall for the first time on Saturday (Opeth), the music was excellent. Just a couple of points on the organisation & the event itself. - Getting through the gates seemed to take longer than required. I was at the South gate about 30 mins before stated start time and still missed first half of Katatonia. - Coffee stall was serving cold coffee later on. - Lots of the crowd seemed to be more interested in chatting than listening to the music. Doubly annoying when sound levels for Opeth seemed quieter than Paradise Lost, is this usual for the venue due to curfew etc? Luckily there was enough room so I could move close to the front of the crowd and couldn't hear drunken chatter anymore 🙂
    • Tickets will just be sent out via email; going out next Monday 10th August apparently.
    • That's how I'd see it, either or, 3 BST rules her out.
