It's a very young festival these days and I don't remember seeing many young people at either the Heaton or Finsbury Park gigs.

T in the Park is very young as well these days though. The Cure headlined Reading only a few short years ago. I think The Stone Roses have a massive age range of fans these days.

Not suspicious. Just general dates for big summer stadium gigs.

Remember also that Coldplay will only happen on Sunday if they have sold enough tickets on their stadium tour and the last time they were going to do this as Neil says, they said no because of it. I do think Adele is most likely not to happen as you would think it'd be The Stone Roses called and accepting, that would be for next year just about as big a booking they could make.

Coldplay will only play if they sell enough stadium tickets? How did you arrive at that one? And they played the festival last time they toured.

Also I'd imagine that The Stone Roses would have something different lined up if they're not in the initial reckoning for Glastonbury.

They're a huge band with younger crowds. Particularly ones that like indie rock music enough to bother with R+L. Plus there were plenty of younger people at Heaton Park when I went.

I'd be absolutely shocked if R&L booked a band already playing to 240 fans already 2 months prior, that's 120k extra than Muse are doing at The O2 if they were playing but I'd question them too, well I defo would atm.

Fair enough, didn't realise that about T. The Cure's crowd was painfully small though!

I didn't arrive at that one, it's direct from Neil, the last time they played stadium dates and were due to play Glasto, Glasto had to wait for another time as not enough tickets were sold. Neil posted a piece about it on these boards recently. I did actually mean to say and you would think rather than as you would think.

This one would need to be The Rolling Stones hush hush. Given how many have sold, I doubt there is too much of a worry about them playing if it suits all parties.

Yes they did but that is two at 100k combined, not really justifying 4 at 240k. People will travel from further than just Manchester for The Roses gigs.

Yes but they were an extra, 4th headliner that year, and probably only agreed to end up playing if they'd sold a certain amount of stadium tickets. If they were one of the standard three headliners I'm sure they'd have played and not had the option of bailing.

It would definitely be a better booking in terms of exposure for the festival, telly ratings, column inches. But for us poor saps, the punters, it would be a pretty forgettable gig. Whereas stone roses would undoubtedly be an atmosphere up there with the best ever.

But I understand the glastonbury brand is more important than the actual festival these days.
