I am tempted to turn up at Hyde Park with a few cans and just sit outside, if I can get in on a cheap ticket great, if not I'll just sit outside and listen.

Good plan. Unless it shits down I'm likely to follow suit! Get me nicely in the mood for the following weeks festivities too.

You can't hear everything inside the venue, never mind outside it, haha.

Some company will probably start chucking free tickets at everyone soon. Keep your eyes peeled for competitions too. I swear the Libertines Sunday show at the Ally Pally was almost all competition winners.

Shits down? Interesting. I've never heard that one before!

Piss down is obviously well known .. Is there any difference between the two?

Broccoli,

Blackpool is alright for a day out. Loads of things to do with loads of pubs and bars. It is a bit of a stag night and hen night destination, a bit cheesy with kiss me quick hats and stuff so a typical British holiday town in that sense. The Pleasure beach has some great rides and the Big one rollercoaster.

We have Blackpool tickets and I'm looking forward to making a day of it!!

This is true but Hyde Park is not far for me at all. If all I do is have a few beers in the park and go home it's not big deal as I'd likely do that anyway.

This is also what I'm thinking. Wouldn't be shocked if there was another "leak" of cheap tickets. Don't know how many tickets they've sold, but given all the desperate measures they were trying months in advance to shift them, I can't imagine too many. Maybe half the allocation? They'll want to avoid the embarrasment of having Blur's triumphant comeback show being played out to a half-empty Hyde Park.

Hope so anyway as I'm desperate to go but there's not way I can afford it.

I'm hoping for this too. It's not just that I can't afford it to be honest; I resent paying those prices for that venue and the rest of the line up doesn't justify it.

From what I've seen live and from TV footage, I'd probably put my top 3 from the 21st century as:

1. Muse 2004

2. Blur 2009

3. Radiohead 2003

I'm all for opinions etc but any of those 3 being above The Stones, Stevie Wonder, Bowie or Neil Young is an utterly ludicrous suggestion.

I may be about to be burnt as a witch... I really enjoyed the Stones 2 years ago, but I enjoyed Arctic Monkeys more the night before.

I have only been going since 2009 and my top 3 Pyramid headliners have been in no particular order Stones, Stevie and Muse. I thought Muse absolutely killed it. I have seen them time and time again and that night was by far the best.

Stevie Wonder was rubbish. And I LOVE Stevie.

Nick Cave 2013 was probably the best thing I have ever seen anywhere.

(edit - wasn't a headliner. still true though)

The Stones were fantastic but I say that because I was there maaaaaaan.

Stevie Wonder didn't impress me on the footage, I know a lot enjoyed it and it was probably great if you were there, but it didn't do much for me.

Neil Young's set was good, but not stunning (sorry hardcore Shakey fans).

Bowie's was probably the best of the 4. I almost put that in the top 3 but then I remembered Radiohead's 2003 set.

Thats a unique take on the gig!

Why did you think he was crap?

Ok maybe a bit harsh. I struggle with some of the "heritage" shows to be honest. It just felt a bit like another slick going-through-the-motions show. Now if I'd seen him in the 70's, I'm sure that would have been completely different.

The Stones were great, but if I'm being honest it was more about the event rather than the quality.

I think you're doing them a bit of a disservice there, I thought the TV coverage was no where near representative of the quality of the band etc. It was an event, but that's not to say it wasn't a fantastic performance too. It's hardly as if they were crap a la IOW 2007 and everyone wore rose tinted glasses. I was pleasantly surprised.

As for my top 3 since 2010, I'd probably go:

Stones (13), Stevie Wonder (10), Arcade Fire (14)

If you were just going by tv footage I'm not sure how anyone could put the Stones in their top three. It sounded horrid.

I watched Fuck Buttons instead of the stones, and thoroughly enjoyed myself, I then watched the footage of the stones when I got home, and it's easy to see why I didn't regret it one bit

At the time I felt like I was missing quite a big occasion, I think The Who will be similar this year, but I won't be there either

    • Similar feelings to a few others on here. Not my personal favourite edition but a long way from giving up on it. Felt overcrowded at times and there are just too many people there that don't seem to like music that much! Hardly went to main stages which was the plan. Highlights Ralphie Choo, rusowsky, Gorillaz, Geese, Gelli Haha, The Sophs, PinkPantheress, Dijon. Accommodation booked for next year. Thanks for your company and comments over the past year.

    • Probably completely overthinking this plus I’ve only just seen it. But, could this be a hint at the secret set, they are free this weekend??
