How's it looking so far? Woeful? Excellent? Or does no body have a clue?

Considering it's quite far out.. the latter.

No-one can be sure till a few days before the fest.. still plenty of time yet for things to change 8)

Looks like poor little Harry Readhead at The Metro wasn't successful on ticket day. Bless him!

"...we have some good news FROM you"

We shouldn't worry too much about a weather article with an error in the first sentence.

Quit worrying, guys. At this stage, all weather forecasts are little more than baseless speculation.

Here is a similarly gloomy article from a similar time in 2010. Do we all remember how that one turned out?

This article is the proof you need to not bother reading any weather forecasts for a fortnight

"As much as a 2.7mm of rainfall"

If The piss poor grammar didnt betray the shoddy journalism, their lack of meteorological understanding should. 2.7mm is barely more than condensation.

Put it another way, take a mug, put your tap on a slow drip, and see how long it takes to fill to 3mm.

The long term models not so good this week, but looking at the medium term models, unsettled next week, and perhaps a slight sign of things improving just before the festival starts.

To be fair, that's kind of what was expected and only going off the short-term models, it was always going to be a bit of a shit forecast. The weather late next week/into the week after isn't supposed to be great, so hopefully we'll 'get it out of the way' as such. Similar to the way that it was glorious leading up to the 2014 festival and great for a short while afterwards, but that crap spell during the 2014 fest will hopefully fall before the fest rather than during.

No scientific value in that of course, so take my view with a pinch of salt.

Hopefully most of the heavy plant will be off site by the time the unsettled weather comes, meaning the ground won't get churned up.

Exactly my thinking, not so early that it will drastically affect the big preparations made on site, but not so late that it affects the ground for arrivals etc.

Only a couple of bits of uncertainty for me - the timing of the expected low pressure and consequent bad weather (cos by my limited understanding sometimes periods of high pressure 'hang on' a bit), and also the arrival of any high pressure/good conditions after this low pressure. Hopefully it will be timed just about right, fingers crossed anyway.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
