Didn't even realise they were still active but just read they're working on a new album? Surprised they haven't been mentioned more on here. Surely a front runner for 2016?

Yeah, I'm thinking it'll come out the end of this year/start of 2016.

Probably not mentioned on here much cause of how poor they were last time around, and might not be booked because of it. Although Blink were re-booked, and I imagine RHCP would be a pretty big draw, after what, 9 years? Majority of people attending R&L these days won't even know about how poor they were last time anyway.

I dunno if there's anything to rule them out though.

I think people have started to look past that though as they were predicted by loads of people for this year as there wasn't a really obvious massive/stadium rock band as most of us didn't particularly expect Metallica for one reason or another. For next year Foo Fighters and Muse and maybe one or two more look a bit of an easier fit so they might be overlooked by people here. Not saying there's an additional criteria of a stadium sized rock band but I guess people generally expect one around that size and more may seem a little too strong.

So dental, take your pick for next year. Foals or Flo to headline?, as it won't be both.

I don't think Muse will play next year, for no other reason than a lot of people seem to be suggesting they'll do stadium dates next year.

Foos are definitely possible. Probably the most likely candidate we have at this stage, but could still see them doing it in 2017 instead, before they disappear to record again.

I don't see why it couldn't be both, really. Have to see for sure what Flo does this year though.

Foos, Slipknot and Foals I reckon at the moment.

Both Foals and Florence (not co-headlining) would be bold. I'd rather one did it alone though if having both meant a bloody co-headline again.

Slipknot would be a great booking.

Slipknot have already done and arena tour and will do Download under this album, are Reading really going to book them to headline that long later after? The thing with Download is it pretty much never sells out on weekend ticket nor day ticket base regularly as far as I'm aware so you have almost endless time to grab a ticket if you want it.

It won't be both, it's WAY too weak, FATM would be seen as the bump up header, as much as Foals would too it'd look incredibly weak. Even with the day ticket prices going down this year you still have £50+ to see headline acts to see each day based on them doing own outdoor shows.

Muse for stadiums seem right, I thought R&L as well with Foo's and it's not ruled out but stadiums is more likely I feel. Unless Blur is the last headliner, I think Foo's for Reading next year is nailed on, even if Blur are the last one. R&L have a relationship with Foo's that if they are going to be booked, it probably won't be that long.

Ready for backlash, it seems clear that FR wants to have a biggish hiphop/rap artist on the mainstage now, i'l tout..

The Weeknd to either sub or headline NME next year... Probably a sub. Seems outlandish at the moment but he's just had a massive hit in the charts right now, and with a new album coming either this year or next year... I can see him being booked.

Wouldn't be too surprised to see him play next year, not sure where he'd would play tho. NME sub seems about right, depends if his popularity dips or grows much more in the next 12 months. I haven't heard any of his new stuff but was a huge fan of trilogy when it was first released.

As far as rap acts go I do agree that they'll probably maintain a decent amount of those types of acts every year. A couple of weeks ago I predicted Dizzee Rascal as NME headliner (although I have no idea how big he is anymore). He released a new EP at the tail end of last year I think, released a couple of pretty funny videos too:

Weren't watch the throne gonna do album number 2

getting them in to headline would be nifty

Highly doubt it'l happen again tbh, seems like a one off thing.

I believe the 2nd album was pencilled in for 2013/2014 but just never happened.

Foals

Disclosure

Courteeners

Enter Shikari

Deaf Havana

Foo Fighters

Deftones

A Day To Remember

Major Lazer (Closing Set)

The Vaccines

Kanye West

Bloc Party

The 1975

Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls

Slaves

I think that Bloc Party into Kanye would be brilliant. I fully expect Disclosure to sub also. Imagine Dragons is a weird one. I (begrudgingly) listened to their new album earlier and it's absolute guff. I think they would sub IF they played, but expect V to go for them. I've put The 1975 third down even though I genuinely expect them to sub.

    • And....  the perfect act to sub headline pre  Bonobo.  -   Max Cooper on before for a fantastic double just those new Park screens wont know what hit them with Max Visuals -
    • I think people that used to be able to do a lot of gigs have had to be more picky and make a decision rather than going to most of what they’d have been able to previously. The prices are just crazy now and if you add in spending money, transport & a potential hotel, all of which has gotten more expensive unless it’s a local gig or smaller independent venue it becomes holiday money. Even if your local and it’s an arena gig it could be higher than a days pay for some.
