Why is it outlandish? ADTR playing 3rd is reasonable for next year given that they're touring then which I think they will be

I agree with you here, but the post I was responding to suggested it was outlandish.

the crowd for twin Atlantic wasn't that big at Leeds Last year.

Plus, ADTR will play third down next year, if they're around.

Taking out the headliners and subs. They were not far off Kooks/Royal Blood for the biggest crowd of the tent last year

You me at six will be given a sub spot one day but I reckon they will stall at that, and never headline.

Tbh I think they should have got the sub slot last year, people have said Macklemore's exclusivity cost meant he got the slot and I buy that. I think them and Foals will be considered strong up and coming subs after their next albums, hence my thinking that they might get a co headline chance.

Not far off my thinking but

  • I'm not so sure Royal Blood will be back again a year after their exclusive booking
  • I think TDCC might 'do a Vaccines' and appear a lot lower on festival line ups that what we all expect

Perhaps not necessarily the right days for each act but I think those slots would work but a lot depends on reception to next albums

Fall Out Boy

Tame Impala

Enter Shikari

Weezer

Hate to be a pessimist (As I do love that line up), but I think the chances of these bands returning in these slots (Esp. Weezer) is unlikely.

  • I kinda got the sense it was this year or never for Weezer/Interpol/Placebo
  • FOB could sub but personally I'd have though they'd be more likely to have done it this year
  • I don't think Enter have got as big as they needed to of the back of their last album to sub, their 3rd crowd last year wasn't massive
  • Don't think Tame will be considered big enough to be NME headliners

I don't understand that if they both played the same position in 2013 why Foals are being considered bump up to headliner but Fall Out Boy can't be? They are the one's with a 2nd big tour under their belts.

True, but I think if they wanted FOB they'd have gone for them this year.

Because Melvin wants foals to headline. Hes been doing his best to make them seem bigger than they are for years. What part of this are you not understanding? It's been going on over a week now.

Bloc Party played Earl's Court on the back of their last album and headlined Latitude. They'd be a huge NME headliner, never mind FR. Even if their new album sold 0 copies they'd pack the FR beyond belief.

just imagining the marketing department ringing up the band and the band saying how many have we sold and the marketing department goes "zero lol"

Coming from someone who silently thought tame impala would play third down this year... Twin Atlantic third down at reading would not happen unless they got considerably bigger.

They will be booked much bigger slots at T than reading so there's no way to compare.

    • Absolutely love her record, System. Definitely an album that rewards a bit of commitment.   She's right on my must-see list. Hoping she's in the Walled Garden, as I think her sound might be a bit muddy if she's early-ish in Far Out.   Ben
    • Same here, I kept trying to go on A View From My Seat to see if each block was worth it. So vague!
    • Ok, I’ve had time to process the experience now, so here is my review.   The good Barcelona - what a beautiful place! What lovely people! The city was like another headliner. Stayed in El Poblenou, and the bars, cafes and restaurants were perfect. Avalanches - Absolutely spectacular, euphoric set. Fantastic stage. Possibly enhanced by substances that I timed right, for a change. Added bonus that I don’t really remember the queue. The Cure - I’ve been a fan for 34 years, and never got round to seeing them, so this was a dream come true. The XX - The sound was exceptional. The lights and setlist perfect, giving each member their moment. Was really loud where I was standing (between the front and the sound desk), but i didn’t notice any chatters - even during the quieter moments. Also loved Men I Trust, .bd. , Big Thief, NewDad and Gorillaz. The food within Parc Del Fòrum was also a lot better than I was expecting.   The bad People talking non-stop throughout some of the sets, and shouting to be heard over the music. I had to move 3 times during Wet Leg just to be able to hear the band over the crowd. It’s probably an age thing, but I just don’t understand it. You’ve paid how much to watch these acts, and now you’re standing with your back to the stage, missing the music and ruining the experience for everyone else? Odd behaviour.   The weather apocalypse on Thursday. I genuinely thought I would be able to tough it out. I couldn’t. Left after Geese. The lack of communication from Primavera didn’t help.   Whilst it was lovely to be by the sea, and the sunsets were very pretty, the site is a bit…concrete-y, isn’t it? I kind of longed for some grass and trees. Often found ourselves standing on the steps by the Adidas yard by some bamboo. This was probably a subconscious need for some nature. The fact that some of the nature included cockroaches did not negatively affect the experience.   My daughter, for running away when she saw the drug dogs in the queue on Thursday, meaning that I lost her for the whole evening. She hid her stash under a bench, and it miraculously survived the storms.   Also, can someone explain the point in having a wristband, when you still have to show your ticket every time you enter and leave the site?   Finally, I would like to nominate myself as one of the bad things about this year’s Primabera. I should have done Primavera a lot better. It was my first one, so I’m still learning, but I think I left too early on the Thursday. Left after the Cure on Friday, so I would be full of energy on Saturday, and then barely made it to the end of Gorillaz anyway, meaning I missed Overmono, Skrillex, Skullcrusher, Kneecap, and a few more I would have liked to see.   All in all Amazing lineup. Decent food options. Cupra and Cupra Pulse stages were very impressive. Weather was perfect for 3 out of the 4 days i attended.   It was always likely to be a ‘one and done’ for me, but we had a blast, even if I am starting to get too old for all this.
    • That Wednesday Razzmatazz slot is one of the best/prime slots!
    • If they fancy chucking something together last knockings, i'm up for it! 😄 Got to get a cat sitter, but i'm 95% there
