Really enjoying Jim O'Rourkes latest.

You a fan of his earlier stuff? I find him hit and miss but that period he had about 15 years ago on Drag City? Man, it's wonderful, Eureka and Halfway to a Threeway are immense

I'm not particularly a fan no. Just never really gave him a good run. May do now though. Will check out the above.

Its been another cracking year for music so far.

The first single is just the title track I think, first play on Annie Mac on Tuesday.

Longer teaser here.

Really excited for this despite not being that taken with Holy Fire. Their choice of producer being a sort of safe-popular-indie-album type one is a bit of a worry but they had Flood for the last one and I didn't think much to that so I dunno, and also who cares? :P Hope they roll out the intimate dates shortly for around album release time.

aye Holy Fire was okay but just seemed like a bit of a less-good continuation of Total Life Forever to me. teaser makes it seem like the first single is gonna be a load and shouty one which is good! sub Pyramid or headline Reading for them next year methinks

I loved Holy Fire when it came out but it doesn't hold up as well as the other two when you go back to it IMO. Still a decent enough album though as its got some of the best stuff they've done on it (Providence/Late Night/Out of the Woods).

Yeah, they're looking angry in the teaser - which is what we want.

I really liked Holy Fire at the time but I've not really gone back to it much recently. It's the album that got me properly into them though. I liked parts of Antidotes and Total Life Forever when they were released but never really got into them until after Holy Fire.

It'll be interesting to see whether they move onto arenas straight away, though I imagine they will.

Yeah it was quite strange with Holy Fire. They'd amassed a decent following but Holy Fire just blew them up without particularly selling out (despite what I may have said about My Number before) and gained a lot more fans and just seemed a bigger prospect than they'd ever been. Maybe it was a switch in management/PR or something as I believe they're with Peter Mensch now.

Would expect an arena tour announcement to follow the album release and then R+L in the summer. They've probably had that agreed for a while now as Yannis and Melvin have both been vocal about wanting Foals to headline Reading. If it did turn out they're not at Reading, I still think they'd be beyond sub at Glasto and a good choice to headline.

The guy who was side stage booking a band during Metallica last year? ;):P

Album announcement is way earlier than I thought! Even with the teaser yesterday, I thought it would be long build up!

I think they're with Mensch's company but not actually with him - I'm pretty sure they're managed by the same dude who manages Peace, at least that's what I got from a bit-part conversation I eavesdropped on when I met Peace and their 'team' :P

Anyway, new Beck on Monday. Think he was on about possibly getting a new LP out this year a couple of months ago. Teaser sounds cool.

ooh i love it! i liked Morning Phase n'all but it seemed like too much of a retread of Sea Change to really get that excited about, but this is Beck doing what he does best and completely shifting his sound again. excited for this new album. shame he's not at Glastonbury this year

    • Attended a gig at Piece Hall for the first time on Saturday (Opeth), the music was excellent. Just a couple of points on the organisation & the event itself. - Getting through the gates seemed to take longer than required. I was at the South gate about 30 mins before stated start time and still missed first half of Katatonia. - Coffee stall was serving cold coffee later on. - Lots of the crowd seemed to be more interested in chatting than listening to the music. Doubly annoying when sound levels for Opeth seemed quieter than Paradise Lost, is this usual for the venue due to curfew etc? Luckily there was enough room so I could move close to the front of the crowd and couldn't hear drunken chatter anymore 🙂
    • Tickets will just be sent out via email; going out next Monday 10th August apparently.
    • That's how I'd see it, either or, 3 BST rules her out.
    • Surely the chances of Madonna doing three+ nights at BST and also Glastonbury is pretty low? I know Elton did (2?) nights at BST but it seems like it’s one or the other at this point?   A shame. I think she would be absolutely brilliant - plus, unfortunately, given that she isn’t as able as she was means this could be a now or never situation?
    • All of these were published in July of their respective year. Appreciate the festival is a little later than normal but it must surely be live in the next 48 hours? The first events start in five days! 🤣
