Here we go again with the Frank Sidebottom lookalike and his pals euphoria.

There's already a thread going on this topic so need need to start another.

Please lookup Comedy headliners

Here we go again, someone hates an act yet still clicks on the threads about them.

You'd think that given the entirety of the internet, people would find something more interesting to do than read speculation about whether or not a gig that they have absolutely no intention of attending will ever take place.

Unless they think that they are awesome for not liking that band and want to make sure that everyone knows about it.

Happens a lot on these boards. There are loads of threads on here about bands I either have no interest in or actively dislike but I have no intention of posting in them and pissing on everyone's chips.

I would love them to play. They have been brilliant this year ( all the old magic back in spades) and I certainly don't get the impression they are doing it just for the money. The gigs at Ally Pally were special. I would happily go and see them on any stage at Glastonbury. I would even break my habit of not watching main stage headliners for them. And as was said further up the thread, they appear to be writing again, and planning a new album, so i would not be at all surprised to see them play.

The 'money' excuse is a little twisted. A lot of people think that they wouldn't get a Pyramid headline whereas they're a proven ticket seller and they'll likely have festivals offering a wad for them to headline their main stages. Headlining main stage and a bigger fee vs. headlining second stage and a smaller fee isn't really just being greedy. I think it may be a closer run thing if Glastonbury were to offer a lower fee but for Pyramid headline.

John is definitely in it for the money though, poor bloke.

Haha, he always looks like he'd rather be anywhere else. He also has a new band on the go, I really liked Yeti so interested to see what he comes up with next. Apparently any new Libs record will be more of a 4 way thing rather than just the Doherty and Barat show so maybe John will cheer up a bit if he gets some songs on there.

Anyone that seen them at Alexandra Palace will tell you that they were brilliant. They have a repatoire of songs that most band can only dream of. They'd be brilliant at glasto, it's just hard to place them. Bigger than other headliner. They'd smash a pyramid headline slot no doubt, but not sure they'd get the chance. If kasabian can, they definitely can.

SR for Reading and Leeds so probably unlikely for Glasto (not that they weren't already)

That's the bloody problem! I think they'd be just a heck of a lot more special on the Pyramid, I think that they are slightly wasted at Reading.

It's frustrating how Pete and Carl only want vast sums of money to make the effort of being together on stage justified.

New album being written in the process, and with Pete coming out of rehab. Increase in likelihood of them playing??

Would be a belter of a band to play.

If they're really playing Reading/Leeds (which is what we've heard, tho we're not certain it's correct) then that's very likely to be on an exclusive basis. For a start, there's no longer enough Libs fans to split them around many big shows.

So I reckon that rules them out of Glasto, unless they're going to be the 'secret' opening act on the Other Stage.

I'd maybe consider a day ticket for R or L but there would need to be a very good line up alongside the Libs which going by recent years I don't see happening. I'll keep my fingers crossed for secret Other openers and/or some indoor warm up gigs.

Considering the history of the band I can see why they take the big paying gigs when they can get them.

What's with the fucking red font and yellow block highlighting...am i missing something?

Should i care?

The Libertines are dead as an ongoing concern. Even the second album was guff.

Agreed. Only slightly less annoying than the oasis are the best band ever band wagon. It's over. Move on. They were of their time. If you haven't progressed your taste in music then it was shit

to begin with....

Just as well everyone doesn't share your view. And Woffy, I love the Libs second album ( almost as much as I love Down In Albion). And, from the new record deal, best headliner award etc etc, I would hardly think the Libs are dead as an ongoing concern. In any case, the beauty of somewhere like Glastonbury, where there are so many stages, is that there will be something for everyone.
