I was massively into them until they started making some terrible music. Bass heavy rubbish with to many woomp woomps in it. The whole breaks scene went down the pan.

Back in 2005 they tore the roof off Dance east. Annie Nightingales breaks party on the Thursday in the dance lounge was also a highlight. Adam Freeland, Slyde and Plump Djs pumping it out until  a strike of lightening hit the tent and knocked all the power out.

Artwork is definitely playing, but I'm not sure he'd be taking over a stage for the evening. Hessle Audio definitely could, that's not outwith the realms of possibility

I have it on good authority that Patrick Topping will be there, not sure how well known or popular he is but I know his step mum and that's only how I've heard of him as I don't really follow this kind of music

Whether you like it or not, tech house is a very popular genre at the moment. It's pretty much a guarantee that you'll get the likes of Richy Ahmed at Glasto.

Equally, there are plenty of other stages that will host key players in Techno, Disco, Drum & Bass, Hardcore, Psy Trance etc. So I really don't know what you're getting at with this comment.

Topping and Ahmed both played last year, in Silver Hayes and then The Spaceport. They aren't going to have a negative effect on the festival, and there will be plenty people there who like them, there's got to be some compromise

I also really struggle with generic tech-house, but it is incredibly popular. In a way, though, and I'm not being in anyway a snob or judgemental I promise, it's a perfect analogy of the Ed Sheeran situation, isn't it?

He makes perfectly inoffensive, bland stuff that your non-discerning punter laps up all day long (though I've heard that the new record is offensive by virtue of how bad it is...).

The NYD event I went to had Patrick Topping and Hot Since 82 in the big room. Rammed. Dull as ditchwater and I swear I couldn't tell one from the other during the short while I was in there for either. Alan Fitzpatrick and an on-form Ben Klock in the much smaller techno room drew a fraction of the crowd for the tech-house...

Now, that all said, and it's possible that my recollection comes with the caveat of being spangled, but Richy Ahmed's set in The Spaceport last year was bloody superb. And it wasn't jangly, off-beat high high-hat, piano-ey, nasty vocal sampling tech-house. It can't have been. I wasn't that spangled...

this is the problem these days, people never feel like they can call something out for being shit and not get a backlash about it. Not everything is great. Sometimes criticism is deserved.

Personal preference fair enough, but this crap & the associated culture and people is so far removed from the original origins of house music its not even funny. Just my two cents! Glasto should cater for everyone I suppose, but what is wrong with asking for a bit of quality control & not just running with the latest trends no matter how crap they are.
