Friday, Im going to the Prince tribute, but Maceo Plex then Manno Le Tough in the Beat Hotel would be good for you. Especially if you see Sigur Ros

Saturday - I think you'd like Dave Seaman in Glade Lounge or Mr G and Joey Beltram at Genosys

Sunday - Dubfire in the glade early on then Ben UFO in the temple look like your things to me.

Thanks, Fuzz - yes, I had Joey Beltram on the list. Love Ben UFO so that might end things off nicely.

Benjamin, do you like a little bit of disco/funk thrown in amongst your techno action? If so, Seth Troxler b2b The Martinez Brothers in LBHQ is really going to be something great, I saw them play together in Subclub, and it was a lot of good fun.

You might also want to check out Paranoid London, they're playing in the Spaceport, they'll blow that place away I suspect

I'm not  massive fan of disco, but like funk and don't mind a bit of that in the mix. Of all of my attempts to narrow down what looks best for me, ST B@B Martinez was numero uno so, once again, you guys have me down to a tee!

That LBHQ set sounds SOOOO good - I'm guessing it'll be a bastard to get into, though...?

And I've also decided to see PL in Spaceport, as I was going to try for their WOW! set on Thursday, but suspect a repeat of J.e.S.U.S, so that's a waste of time as when I go to dance I like my arms not to be pinned to my side!

Thanks you guys - love ya!

Il not be anywhere near PL in WOW anyway, that tent on the Thursday as you say, is a recipe for disaster. But Friday's set clashes with Mano Le Tough who is my electronic must see if the festival

I'd imagine if you try and get in at 2 when they start, it'll be some queuing and very busy @ LBHQ, but it's on until 6 and I'm certain to be at Mano Le Tough^^ until 3, then might catch some of Artwork in London Underground until 430, and then head over for the last hour and half or so, still plenty of time to enjoy it and bring the evening to an end.

Everynight, well, Fri/Sat/Sun, I've something I'm very keen to see going right through until 5/6am, I'm extatic to push my body right to the limit, I can't fucking wait!!

I NEED HELP!

My dear disciples of the Electronica/Dance thread...

I am calling on you to help me out!

I'm desperately trying to sort out my best options for night-time electronic happiness and am getting bamboozled - partly due to my ignorance of some of the artists on the magnificent line-up and partly as there seems to be too much I would like.

The Brief:

I need some brilliant guidance as to what my best options are for Thursday - Sunday nights, after the headliners (I have a pretty consistent bands-all-day, dance-all-night policy).

You know what I like by now:

  • Techno
  • Bleepy and minimalist is best!
  • Not too cheesy
  • Don't really do DnB, but can manage some jungle
  • Do like the acid side of dance life

I'm pretty sold on Ben Coda in Glade Lounge 0145-0300h on Thursday, so that would finish off that night nicely (in terms of acts on the line-up as it is all until 0300h - then I can bimble)

But I could really do with any other Thursday ideas and LOTS of guidance for Fri/Sat/Sun

So, quote me dance happy, m'lovelies!

:)

Ben

Have you checked out Tama Sumo? Playing in NYC Downlow after The Black Madonna on Saturday night:

Doesn't really clash with anyone for me, I would have watched Joey Beltram if he weren't clashing with anyway, but Talabot is definitely one I'm not missing

Oh I so am, Grayman. They are already locked into the Sunday BenFinder®!

Actually, I feel a bit of a fraud for asking you all, as I seem to have all of your fab suggestions in pencil already!

I guess it confirms my pre-choices!

:D

Can't remember who exactly he clashes with, but after listening to his album a few times and watching some of his sets there's no way I'm missing him

Only just getting into John Talabot, have meant to for some time.  Am enjoying his album Fin but curious to know what he's like as a DJ?  Anyone you could liken him to?

Il be making my way as quickly as my body allows me to the Downlow for The Black Madonna afterward

I can't believe the quality of electronica ahead of us, Daniel Avery on Arcadia then straight to Maceo Plex and Mano Le Tough in The Beat Hotel then to some of Artwork in London Underground (queue dependant) and on to Seth Troxler b2b The Martinez Brothers in LBHQ, and that's just the FRIDAY

Four Tet b2b Flo Po straight into John Talabot then over to The Black Madonna in the Downlow

AND

The highly anticipated (for me) Midland b2b Palms Trax in The Temple, finishing the festival with BEN UFO*** b2b Job Jobse also there.

I leave TWO WEEKS TODAY, it's fair to say I'm fucking excited

*** correcting myself

Looks like I'll be doing much the same as you apart from a few minor differences. It is indeed incredibly strong. First time going with people who are just as up for this kind of stuff as me so I imagine it's gonna be incredible. May end up at the 3-5am stuff myself but I'll be so gone by then it won't matter

There's actually only a few of us in my group (around 12 this year) who'll be out until the death I reckon, I suspect even after the music finishes at 5/6 il still float about to the stone circle or the park area. We had talked about going right through on Friday into Saturday, which Four Tet playing the morning set at Stonebridge starting at 11, and Seth T b2b TMB not finishing u til 6am, it's hardly worth the slow walk back to pylon!

Last year we went right through Sunday night as we had coaches back on Monday morning, may well do the same again this year. Was something really great about hopping from venue to venue as they all shut down for good one by one.

Il definitely be in The Temple until it shuts on the Sunday, there won't be too many open after that, my bus is at 10:30, I reckon il be staying awake until then, it's about 10/11 hours home, so I'd like to be at the brink of my ability when going on the bus, to assure sleeping the whole way

Do you mind if I politely enquire as to your rough age?

I ask because I used to be able to do this, but completely lack the stamina now, trying to gauge if it's an age thing or if it's just me being an arse.

My first glastonbury in 2007, I came by coach and return was 6am Monday morning, so of course I stayed up all night. Looking back, I remember being quite chipper about the whole thing, standing there in the rain waiting for Seetickets to sort their lives out.

If I tried to do this again, I fear I would be an insufferable bitch. Who knows though, Glastonbury seems to bring out the best in everyone!

Also highly anticipated to me, particularly the second half. What's your strategy with toilet/bar breaks/getting back into the Temple?

No problem at all, I'm 22, still a youngster, so even without the miscellaneous I can still drink my way through to 4/5am usually without any problems.

Particularly Midland and Palms Trax for me, so go for the toilet (this won't be an easy task by this point of the festival let me tell you) and if need be jump out between them even if it means queueing slightly to get back in. Though I'm not certain il need to go

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
