However, I would recommend spending a bit extra and getting a pod shaped one. Much more comfortable.

can't stand the pod ones. They're ok if you're into being slowly restrained as you roll over to get comfortable....

Would also spend more though, nothing worse than being cold all night.

LOL you're all confusing each other

rectangular sleeping bags are the traditional type

mummy bags are those that are snug around you like a cocoon

pod bags are big rounded lozenge shaped ones about the width of a rectangular one but with a hood

carry on. and never buy the cheapest sleeping bag - buy a decent one and avoid all that 'it's cold/hot/sweaty' whinging

Both the rectangular ones and the 'mummy' ones are very claustrophobic, in my opinion. Not only that but they severely restrict a good flowing w*nking motion.

lol :D i love my mummy one for just that reason though - once all snuggled up i can't do anything but sleep so i do

then occasionally i end up fretting about actually pulling and having to explain my sleeping bag doesn't want to play, but it's yet to actually happen so remains a moot issue

How cheap are you wanting to go? First ever festival I went to I bought a £6 sleeping bag from Lidl. Spent the weekend freezing at it barely went upto my shoulders. Learned my lesson and spent money on a Vango sleeping bag and it's been a great investment, always nice and cosy.

Dont scrimp on a cheap sleeping bag, its one of the most important things you take with you, and make sure the tent is double skinned. I made both mistakes in 2007, nothing worse than not being able to sleep even when knackered.

A real pillow too. It's heaven when you finally do get your head down to try to sleep.

I guess it's each to their own. I can't stand being 'mummified' and constrained in the old fashioned shaped bag.

Yup!!! I'd never be intoErotic asphyxiation for this reason! Give me and nice lose any time over the others!

Find a decent pod sleeping bag, you've got plenty of timee to wait out for some sales.

You get what you pay for !!
I have been camping for over 50 years and the quality of sleeping bags has changed a huge lot during that period so when I started going to festival's I was after a 4 Season bag even although its more expensive than a 3 Season bag.
currently I use a Vango Nitestar 450 - rated 4 Seasons { you need that at Glastonbury }
its about £50 - sure its not cheap but I would rather spend more than freezing my arse off in the late evening just for a few quid.
A good sleeping mat { my one is self inflating } and a good sleeping bag are essential for camping in the UK.

I have one that shape and find it more comfortable than the narrow pod ones as you have more room to sprawl. Edited by Derby_Dave

My first Glastonbury which was 2011 I took my four seasons sleeping bag which i had had for a number of years, I had generally used it in the winter for camping in snowy conditions. The first night at Glastonbury I had one or two ciders got in my sleeping bag, did it up at the top around my face and lay down on my thermal mat, I woke up in the morning convinced that I had wet myself I had sweat so much, from that night on I only pull it up as far as my chest.
