Sounds about right to me. They could headline JP too, I reckon. Didn't Neil say something about there being bad blood between James and the festival though?

Saw James at TiTP this year. Strong set list packed with hits, good audience engagement so agree they could play JP or fairly high up on Other or Pyramid. Not heard about the bad blood so perhaps not going to happen.

Good shout, as well as someone mentioning RyG earlier. Knew there must be some, but there's not many really so I guess WH isn't the proving ground for a move to Pyramid unlike the OP suggests appearances on Other stage are - seems a shame really as it would make acts on Pyramid more diverse (the like of Tinariwen also qualify for this as a WH to Pyramid cross over).

Tim Booth was quite ill at TITP as well, but still a quality set. Don't think Glasto like them anymore, think they refused to go on stage in 98 until after an England game had finished. It may be that or some other reason.

The band would be mad keen to play, tweet Emily Eavis until she gives in and books them!!

Can see Ben Howard doing 3rd spot if his album does well.

fourth down max for me.

There has been a friday hip hop act for a few years (I was unsuccessful on tday for 2013 but checked that years line up I use the word hip hop with professor green VERY loosely)

If it is going to be a regular thing - who is a viable this year?

Kendrick Lamar? Not a 'classic' hip hop act but will be touring and would get a massive crowd.

Alt-J would play third down, I think.

really? they wouldnt have been anywhere close to on a level playing field with at least two of this year's third-down Pyramidders even if the album had done particuarly well, which it didn't

Think Rudimental will probably get the same slot to make up for the weather thing.

I reckon he'l sub the other stage, underneath someone like Calvin Harris. He's arguably big enough to headline the other stage but I reckon it would work if he was under a very established act.

definetely in that awkward gap between fourth down but not big enough to sit alongside the third-down Ed Sheeran's of this world

unless of course the album explodes (entirely possible)

his ticket sales are always the strongest thing, sells out in seconds every time

anywhere at all would suit me though :)

McBusted could brighten my day up by being secret Other stage openers. I reckon they'd draw a big crowd.

Course they'd get a big crowd. Their setlist would be a bunch of easy-to-sing pop songs that anyone currently under 21 has grown up with. It's just a question of whether they'd be booked (and they wouldn't).

Don’t care for them myself, but I think they’re deceptively popular, even if they don’t have a huge fanbase. The fact that they’re playing MSG says a lot, that’s fucking massive. They’ve still got one foot in the ‘indie’ scene but they also seem to appeal to people that aren’t really that into music.

      I'm definitely not camping 🙂.  My 17 year old Daughter and her friends are there 3 days and commuting back to Sheffield each day as didn't want to camp .  I am taking and picking up the Saturday so thought I may as well get a ticket as love Fontaines DC - need to do a lot of research on the other acts though to fill my day.    I walked through the camp site other year the day Arctic Monkeys played and it was like a War Zone.  My Son has camped a couple of times but didn't fancy my Daughter staying over.

      Not at all impressed with Polanski saying "noone should be barred from public life" wrt the Tory neo-nazi. I really don't think "no nazis in politics" should be an excessive standard.

      Yeah, I think it's important to differentiate between a stage that's just a platform for the artist to walk on (which can be assembled fairly quickly and without too much difficulty), and the custom staging that you get in big productions where there's a whole world underneath.   Using the Eras tour as an example the stage extending out into the stadium field has all sorts - lifts that go up or down - down most importantly as this allows performers to enter or to leave the stage as needed. There's passageways to get from one part of the stage to another. There's what are effectively dressing rooms set aside for costume changes. There's spare instruments (and techs to look after them) so if something goes wrong above they can be swapped out in the space of seconds. There's even a track and dolly system running the full length of the stage so that Taylor can be moved from one end to the other faster than she'd be able to walk.   I don't know the specifics of the Madonna tour to the same degree but my understanding is that a lot of the same techniques are used.
