My main discoveries so far from the line up are Chainska Brassika and Ferocious Dog, still got loads more to look up though! Had a look at Run The Jewels, but they didn't do anything for me. I'm not much of a hip hop fan, though.

Night everyone, sweet dreams! :)

Evening all. Work is pretty quiet. Thank god I didn't need any more tickets as it is only now I have seen there has been a secret resale. Did Linas mate get one?

Ben we love to hear what's going on with you... As with everyone. Thankyou for thinking of me. I think I am getting used to the idea of not having Sam around the place, though it is hard as no matter where I look, I can see him sitting on the floor looking up at me. I feel so guilty but deep down I know it had to be done. It has been a very sad few days.

As for new music, I haven't really listened to much recently. I have listened to some recommendations on here but so far i'm only loving Courtney Barnett. I will endeavor to listen to more when my nights are finished as I don't have access to music at work.

Hope you are all well? And thankyou again for all of your kind words and virtual hugs x

Morning all. Feeling surprisingly awake after a very long and boring night shift. I shouldn't grumble really, it could've been so different. It seems like it's going to be a nice day?! Hope no one decided to erect sheds while I'm trying to sleep!

I'm hoping to see Ferocious Dog, their guitarist is Fruitbat from Carter USM :)

Morning all from grey Leeds, and that's just the office decor. I will now have to start checking bands out for June. Smiling now, all good.

Listening to Run The Jewels on train, going into work for a Safeguarding meeting. I really like their delivery, the basslines, the beats, but why do hip hop bands like this have to be so misogynistic? I'm a staunch defender of freedom of speech and anti-censorship, but these guys could still be as acerbic and powerful without constant unpleasant reference to what they expect women to do to their pianists and what they think about ladies' floo-floos...every track?! Shame as I love the sound, but (old fart alert) what fecking message is that to young men...?

Manic day so far, dog walked, ASDA shopping done and out away, now off to work for a bit. Non-stop!

Right, back to appraising whether RTJ are just too...yucky...

:)

Well, Lucy Loo Gingeroo (thanks, HMV!), I'm REALLY enjoying lots of their stuff - about police brutality etc. Quality messages and comment. It's the suck this, suck that throughout tracks I can comfortably manage without!

:)

    • Well he is on a rape charge, don't see that one as controversial.    Although Hakimi is in Morocco squad.
    • Electric Callboy just said they'll be touring here next year. I'm not sure there's a poster for it though. I'll look when I'm near some next.      He said we'll see you at Download at a gig before any of the band. Presumably he was trolling. They're in Austria at the moment and Germany tomorrow with a week's break and more shows in Germany. Whilst not impossible to come back here and then go over there again, it seems unlikely.
    • Thomas Partey, knocked back by Canadian immigration now.
    • I'm sure someone can update you on the clashfinder, and it will be pretty accurate by the time the festival comes around. It's a large flat-ish arena with main stage in the open air, no best side I'd say. Leadmill (3rd stage medium tent) is at the back of the main arena, T'Other (2nd stage big tent) 5 min walk round the corner. At full capacity walking around can take a bit more time though. I noticed that The Enemy are scheduled to not fully overlap with Wolf Alice, so you could catch part of their set too.   You can walk around anywhere with a beer, with most bars the usual mass market stuff, but one nice craft ale tent, back of the arena near the Leadmill stage. A main meal will set you back £10-15, but cheaper snacks also available. Expect a pint to be £7-8. Possibly a bit more this year as prices everywhere are increasing.   It's fairly easy to get to from the town centre using the tram, although can be busy at peak times / very busy at curfew. If you like a walk, it's approx 40 mins to Kelham Island (lots of indy venues) and probably an hour to the city, or catch an Uber. There will be loads of 'fringe' music events on around the city right through the weekend. Most are free. Have a wonderful trip, enjoy the festival, and your stay in our city!
    • I think people on a place like this, that clearly value live music more than most, don't. I'd rather an academy than an arena every day. But I could see a few people that care about "the gram" than the actual music wanting an arena experience even if it's a mid sized band.
