I've edited to my response a reference to the article, which was written in 2002

Yep.

And Pete admitted the offence in 2002 or 2003, where the offence itself was committed in around 1998.

The article's date of 2002 proves nothing of what Pete's intent was in 1998.

I was so very close to selecting a mash up of some of the usernames on here.

I nearly selected GETOFFGazza42 but alas, I went for The Placid Casual.

... Are you comparing me to Gazza and Matt42?

I do yeah. Simply because they found nothing else on his hard drive or any history of it previously. Do you believe 3D from Massive Attack? They played last year.

In fairness, attempting to pay for it with a credit card in the name of "Pete Townshend" sort of shows how naive he was.

Good website here running through a lot of the controversy about it.

Not saying he's innocent, but I'd side on the benefit of the doubt with this one, unless I've watched too many TV shows and I'm not massively clued up on computers but can't they retrieve almost anything off the hard drive these days? if there was something to find they would have probably found it.

Yeah the Glastonbury tweet was definitely a minute or so after 7, as I knew when they tweeted.

Pretty much yeah, unless he dumped his old computers in the 3 years between the act andd the arrest. But even then they there are ways.

Having studied the Who a lot over the years Im inclined to believe him.

This story was over years ago.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
