Don't disagree. Put the above in,especially jungleland and I'm on fire and it would have been, without a shadow of a doubt a lot more appealing to the casual fan and made a better set.

But like I say when you book an act with a 40 year back catalogue there's always going to a setlist issue with people.

For what it's worth I'd say 18 of the 25 song setlist where songs the casual fan would know. Obviously that's biased as a fan.

Never listened to Bruce in my life but just looked at the setlist

The only songs I know are Born to Run, The Ghost of Tom Joad and Outlaw Pete

Without doubting you. There is not a human being on this planet who has not heard dancing in the dark

I'm not even sure why there's any debate - I'm a massive Springsteen fan but it's fairly clear that his 2009 show was a terrible choice of set list. I mostly enjoyed it, but it lost even me in parts and I fully understand why many others got bored.

And I'm pretty confident that in hindsight even the man himself realises the mistake. 2009 was the first time he ever really played festivals, and it's fairly clear he either didn't know or wasn't willing to adjust his set to suit the different audience. Compare his Pinkpop sets from 2009 and 2012, and it seems that lesson has been learned.

How's the rock you hid under that sheltered you from "Dancing in the Dark"?

Very true.

Hate to clog up this thread with springsteen but I do agree with this and be amazed if Bruce didn't also

Also didn't help that in general the 2009 shows weren't a patch on the Wrecking Ball shows.

Hyde park show was immense, even if they did cut him off

Didn't help that Working on a Dream is probably his worst album

thought the 2013 shows were a little lacklustre

...so what would you give tommyds to have Tom Waits headline?...i would break many laws to make this happen ( i Know it won't tho)

2009 vintage Boss: a bit hoarse and seen better nick

2013 vintage Employer: like a man reborn, with a spring in his step and a song in his heart

It's weird, he started playing full albums because his shows weren't automatically selling out anymore, but I think it got him to re-engage with the old songs. A lot of the classics I think he had been going through the motions a bit, but he really seems to be enjoying himself again

On the Glitter and Doom tour I flew to Paris AND paid over £100 for a ticket, so, pretty much all the crimes would be doable

so jealous....missed that...and the london show (2007?) ...anyway would give anything to

a) sit in a sun soaked field drinking cider and listening to the great man or

B) take a table at raphaels silver cloud lounge and listen while sipping a warm bourbon

the man is legend....

I know it was a good few pages back, but that cover of The Rat - really? My ears are still bleeding

Anyway, a load of 90s music has just appeared on my playlist.Taking that as a sign for SFA, Charlatans and Suede to be playing. And the Verve, admittedly less likely...

The man that introduced that video to this thread should be ashamed of himself.

    • That would be perfect!
    • If the festival was on this forecast for the end of the month would really raise the excitement levels 😊😉
    • I think their best chance is to get at Brazil. I though Casemiro in particular but the entire Brazil midfield was awful for the first half of that game, and if McTominay and McGinn press and run past them they've got every chance of getting the lead. You kinda assume Vini Jr and Raphinha will do something at some point in any game, but Brazil look like they're waiting for their stars to make something happen, instead of having a team plan.   I stand by my claim before the tourney that Morocco put 3 past Scotland, which suggests to me they need to nick a draw against Brazil.
    • The dance and pop acts seem to be going down more than the rest lol. Download has turned into 90s fest of the Midlands haha, but it's all silly music no one actually likes lol.
    • It was never going to be great was it, there is comments of Mickey Mouse all over socials lol which is very similar to Glastonbury.  Someone I know from RIP watched Welcome to the Jungle and left and they went saying they've got to see GNR. It was the only day not to see out as well.
