Why is the field day line-up so fucking good and why does it have to be the weekend before a week in which i have 5 a level exams... fml

hoping there's a lot of glasto crossover.

It's the weekend before the week I have my masters exams in that I can't afford, financially or otherwise, to fail. I bought a weekend ticket before I realised this.

I'm probably still going to go.

There will be a lot of crossover, but not enough.

The chances of my rents letting me are nil. Hell, I have to convince them to let me go out tomoz cos they think i'm not working hard enough, exams are in June FFS.

Letting you out? I'm guessing you're 17/18, right? How can they stop you really?

I didn't even ask my mum when I went to Glastonbury when I was 16.

Two years ago, I went to Field Day on the day before one of my university exams.

DO IT

Two years ago I went to Leeds Festival on the Wednesday, got the train back to Manchester on Friday for an exam, sat the 3 hour exam in 25 minutes and then jumped the next train back to Leeds.

Shit weekend, would not reccommend.

Not due to the exam just due to Leeds being a little bit poo

i distinctly remember having a stats exam at 8.40 on the monday after glastonbury 2011, turned up drunk after a whole 1 and a half hours sleep (only because i knew i was shit at stats anyway) and managed to get an A*, so it could actually positively effect your results!:biggrin:

my parents actively encouraged me at 16 to have a weekend off of me :sarcastic:

Yep, my mum was always encouraging me to be a wild one too. She told me off once because I didn't rebel against her enough.

...

Haha, I did initially write "maybe I'm just really edgy".

Well I live with my rents so it's not like I'm completely free and they'd just be really annoyed at me cos they want me to go to uni and shit, so it just wouldn't be worth an argument.

Also my bday/christmas present from them was paying for my glasto ticket, so would be a bit of a "fuck you".

I'm sorry I'm not a badass yet. I listen to rap music sometimes though, which is pretty rad right?

No, it's not 2002 anymore. Real badasses listen to tech-house and take mdma while wearing 'vintage' clothes that you'd expect a poor teenager in the 90s to be wearing however they've actually spent a small fortune on the outfit in Urban Outfitters. Also don't forget to have Vice as your homepage

Sorry if I came across a little harsh, I just get a bit bewildered about these things. I guess it all comes down to upbringing and although I was allowed that freedom, I also had to take the consequences independently too. Wouldn't have had it any other way mind.

Sorry, not a fan of rap music so I don't know much about that. Instrumental hip hop is alright though.

I'm doing this linear course in english where i take my AS's this year as well as a2's so i have four days of english exams in a row and then on one of those days i have a politics and history exams.

(middle class teen problems)

Strictly speaking you should be burning cars up at the Leeds festival after your exams, but if you want to go, then get yourself a ticket in the next sale, joining other groups in the sale process to increase your chances, and put an ad in the lifts forum. You've got from now till June to do your best in exams and then you go to Glastonbury to have a great time (don't celebrate too much and end up dead). My wife is always trying to get her eldest (16) out more often, just not down to GF with me, though. Do it. Either tell your parents, or just disappear and tell them to find you by pressing the red button on BBC.

    • Judging by last night at Wembley, Luke Combs should be in the conversation of headliner. The UK is having a moment with country music so I don't think it would be particularly left field either.

    • It feels really busy this year, loads of big groups of youngsters too. Slightly different vibe to previous years I've been. As with Tramlines, they're very chatty during sets and there's a constant stream of them in and out of the crowd... definitely feeling my age 😂   The Quarry stage I think is a lot smaller than previous years - seems similar size to Squid/Leadmill. Some sets have been difficult to get in.   I think I've reached my limit with mid-tier indie guitar bands. There's been quite a few this weekend where I've gone over to see them then walked away after 20 mins. Surprisingly, enjoyed the Fratellis set the most in this genre. Probably getting on for 20 years since I last saw them. Wasn't expecting them to do Yes Sir, I Can Boogie, which was fab!   Hugely enjoyed the Happy Mondays yesterday, and same but different with Radio Free Alice who I saw again on Friday, following Tramlines last weekend. A big run of pop acts today - Scissor Sisters will be fantastic!
