Yeah, I said on the DL forums that this says to me that tickets aren't selling after this big announcement the way they'd hoped.

I was super happy with this latest batch of bands but the reception elsewhere was less than stellar. I totally understand why Download announced all their big hitters early, they needed people to commit & were up against big tours from Foo Fighters & AC/DC and Tallica' at R&L.

However, people have gotten used to having big names in each announcement so 20+ small bands seems like a weak announcement. If you're not interested in going now there's likely going to be nothing announced now that'll suddenly make it seem 'value for money'.

Screams of not many tickets sold to me.

A lot of my friends (including me) have said they want to go this year but none of us have bought a ticket yet and tbh I cant see us doing until a month or so before.

I'm sure Rock im Park have done the same and they say they have sold 50k tickets. But yeah, more likely that it's low ticket sales over a generous gesture.

However, if people are only pulled in by the headliners then you can see why the 3 would be devisive.

Personllally, I think it's shaping up to be a great line-up. In some ways, I'd rather they spread the money that's available on a number of good bands rather than spunking it all on, say, Metallica, or AC/DC

RIP DID sell out but they added a new field in Metal Meadow this year so capacity has been upped. Think those are almost gone though.

They're not going to be much later this year. Also they were put on sale for a limited time when the headliners were first announced.

Expect them to go back on sale Friday.
