I'm sure it was said after the album. Was definitely said either after they were announced 3rd down at R&L or subbing Soni. As I said, probably just to get one over on R&L/Soni; not unlike Copping to be petty, is it?

There's talk of KISS apparently doing Download instead of Sonisphere, according to tweets and ITK's posted on the official boards. Heck.

If it wasn't for that Soni info then I wouldn't have been surprised at DL having Slipknot, KISS and Muse, with Motley Crüe and Faith No More subbing, after those Euro fest announcements. Don't think that'd do badly.

Someone mentioned Deftones subbing to Copping last year and he said they're not even big enough to sub the second stage these days.

Probably just throwing shade at Soni though.

100% this was said just because he knew they were booked for Sonisphere and that they were the lead act in their next announcement. He has done this in the past too with other acts.

When Andy talks about an artists place on the line up when he isn't booking them, just ignore it completely, even if they aren't at Sonisphere. When he starts talking up an artist thats when he's about to promote them, either for Download or otherwise ie tour.

Seen them before and they were quite good, would check them out again if there isn't anything better on second

this might be old news, but i cba scrolling back through to see. Slipknot announced for Greenfield festival in Switzerland (11-13 June), along with Motorhead, In Flames, Lamb Of God and others. probably all quite likely for Download

It's new news. Probably casts doubt over Motorhead who are also doing Nova Rock that weekend and probably don't do gigs on back to back days now but should be no problem for Slipknot and the rest of them.

Greenfield runs Thursday to Saturday, so probably not an issue.

They're playing on the Sunday at Novarock according to their website, so probably does rule them out

Don't know if this has been posted already but does anyone read Robb Flynn's journals on Facebook? He said himself that Machine Head aren't playing any UK festivals from now on so that confirms them not playing Download or Soni (if it goes ahead)

Someone on the DL forum has read a rumour that Soni could be ready to announce next week, thus jumping ahead of Download. It would be nice to just get some announcement from anyone imo

Much bigger outside Europe. I'd say headlining 3rd stage. Interestingly Motley Crue said not long ago that they won't play on the same bill as them.

Can play same festival different days, im sure if it came down to the two, Crue in their last year of existence would win out

System of a Down are doing KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas so are likely to be on the festival circuit next year

I doubt it personally. That's a hometown acoustic show for charity, and I'm sure they'd have already been announced for something by now if they're on the festival circuit.

EDIT: it's not acoustic, my bad. The line up is delicious though.

It's a charity show however it's part of a circuit that a lot of acts use to kickstart/bookend their promotion
