Thanks for all the responses.

The reason it may be difficult is that there is only one (maybe two) driving up the Tuesday night and 6 of us following up the Wednesday morning.

We've got a group message going and we've decided to chip in for a good quality trolley (I know there hard work) but the lad is going to leave his stuff in the car, use the trolley to put all the tents up then go back to his car and get the rest of his stuff whilst waiting for us to turn up!

Should work ok. Also, the reason for Pennards Hill? I've only been twice to Glastonbury before, and we camped there both times. I loved it. It's just where we want to be with the stone circle and by The Park and the tower etc. As the years go on we may try other places for but now if it's not broke, don't fix it?

Why don't you just take the ground sheets of the tents and peg them in position when you get there. You just need to save space and putting a groundsheet down is better than taping round an empty space

People will assume you haven't got round to puting the tents up yet but will see the space will have a tent

It would be easier than carrying 5 full tents and setting them all up anyway

Anti-Social taping is a big no no!

Really hate it... makes me wanna tear through it or camp in the middle of it, just to prove a point. Which in turn does nobody any favours.

You are blessed with vocal chords, you could always ask your new neighbours if they'd mind saving a little space.

We spoke to our new neighbours before they pitched their tent last year. We just politely said to them that'd we'd love a space for a campfire if we can, and that they'd be more than welcome to join us. They happily agreed (Bushy Ground isn't busy so it's not an unreasonable request) and we helped them put their tent up. Sometimes just having a friendly chat can keep everyone happy and make sure you get what you want.

As it was, they didn't join our campfire but plenty of other neighbours did! They did however, keep leaving their tent door open, and we kept zipping it up for them whenever we went out lol. They were definitely camping newbies :P

yea putting down ground sheets is the best way imo ......ive got no probs with the taping off for people as long as it comes down when youve all arrived cant stand having to walk around a taped off area makes you feel like they are trying to be better than the other people ....

just my 2pence worth

I'm firmly of the opinion that if you want to camp with everyone else you should be up in the car park on tuesday night doing the hard work of queueing up while everyone else is.

Someone in our group asked to have their tent set up for them as they "couldn't be bothered with turning up on tuesday" and was very quickly put straight ;)

I'm camping with two people I've never been to Glastonbury with before (we've all been separately for a few years though ). I'm pretty sure one of them suggested Pennards, and the other suggested Park Home. I refused to camp in either, and manage to convince them to try Bushy Ground instead.

Honestly guys, the quieter camping spots are luxury in comparison. I walk past Park Home etc and the tents are practically pitched on top of each other, the smell from the over used toilets is disgusting and I can't say much for the atmosphere but I would confidently guess it's about the same as any other field.

Now.. a quieter field? You've got lots of space! We had a campfire most nights with our neighbours, there was about 10-15 of us each night, comfortably sat around one, maybe two, fires. There was very little noise, especially as we weren't near anything that had lots of people walking towards it, which meant a good nights sleep. And the best bit? Compost toilets! Such a winner, the smell was basically non existent and because we were out of the way, the queues were only people who were camping in that field, not passers by.

Being in the centre of it, where it's all happening, isn't necessarily a good thing. Glastonbury is a chance to relax as well, and although it might take an extra 5-10 minutes of walking, it's really worth it for the peaceful, friendly and positive atmosphere in the quieter fields.

I have camped in Oxylers and it was okay but the toilets kind of ruined it and it got very very cramped.
