Word of warning people. If it does rain like it did during U2, don't wait until half way through the set before you decide to pull your hood up.

Said hood will by then be full of freezing cold water only too happy to slide down the inside of your coat.

This is purely hyperthetical of course. No-one would be that stupid, oh no.

When Mr Average watches the weather on.the tv after his tea, what are we actually seeing in regards to the real happenings on what's going on up there?

The forcasts on.these websites like the Norway one, accu weather etc are completely different.

It is almost scare mongering

Started Thursday night about 8pm, went through to early hours. Friday was overcast with the occasional shower, quite muddy and grey, felt like a washout year - then Sat and Sun were fine and it dried up quickly. I even wore trainers Sunday I think.

Of course. I now remember waiting for the subways wearing a poncho. Excellent memory sir.

I could catch a monkey - if I was starving I could. I’d make poison darts out of the poison off deadly frogs. One milligram of that poison can kill a monkey. Or a man. Prick yourself, you’ll be dead within a day. Or longer. Different frogs, different times

Can I cautiously suggest that lethal poison is probably not the best method of killing your dinner?

Hi Weather Watchers - I think this is a new site for here, but the chap who runs it is pretty switched on:

http://farmersweather.co.uk/

The video also discusses why the forecasts are so inconsistent - Looks like there's going to be rain around, but not a consistent band of rain on Friday/Saturday...

Finally, a forecaster that explains things properly - thanks for posting that

Prayer circle for the low pressure to take a Gallic holiday. Will duct tape a bin bag to my bum just in case for emergency sit down situations.

That Guardian article today is a vile thing, my eyes nearly rolled right out of my head.

Of course in Somerset/Devon there is going to be a lower *average* amount.. because we had sodding great floods in the winter.. but around Glastonbury wasn't flooded so I expect its much better than that + the level of drainage built in the site. Frankly it smacks of a weather forecaster who hasn't got a sodding clue about the actual site itself.

Just noticed that the forecaster was talking about Devon/Cornwall... not Somerset at all *rants at Londoncentric media*

So in summary, we have established in theses 120+ pages using all expert weather knowledge that:

It might be sunny. It might be cloudy.

It might rain. It might be dry.

It might be windy. It might be calm.

It won't snow.

We're doing well!!

That Guardian article is total bollocks:

The BBC reports light rain throughout Thursday evening before heavy showers through the Friday afternoon and evening. Sadly, they’re not alone in this prediction. Festiweather is currently predicting around 4mm of rain over the weekend. Accuweather believes 3mm will fall on Friday alone. It's not a complete washout, but neither is it an insignificant amount of water.

I'd argue that, in the grand scheme of things, 3-4mm of rain is an insignificant amount of water.

For comparison:

  • In 1997 78mm of rain fell in the few days before the festival
  • In 2005 50mm fell in 3 or 4 hours
  • In 2007 60mm fell in the wettest 24 hour period

    • My understanding is that the queues returning back to the UK will be much worse (up to two hours) but the queue entering Lisbon isn’t so bad. That’s just from reading a few forum posts about it though so take it with a pinch of salt!

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
