Thoughts?

I've just heard 'Prince Johnny' and i must say i'm really liking it.

I've been aware of Annie Clark for a while and have read previous album reviews which are almost unanimously glowing, but this is the first time i've made the effort to listen.

Also, i know she's playing Electric Picnic but her tour ends on 22 June. So might she be at Glastonbury?

I've spent HOURS reading the 'who might be playing' threads and never seen her name once (i don't think).

NB: Been reading these forums for years without ever posting...so be gentle.

I've started working backwards through the albums and she seems to have developed each time...although i have to listen to stuff ALOT before i really 'hear'.

Would like to see her live at Glasto...the shows look kinda...'theatrical'(?)...not usually my thing but it seems to suit her.

She can't half fucking play guitar too.

Love the new album, I'm pretty sure it's my favourite, but I'll have to give it time to see if any of the giddy sheen wears off. She's excellent live, I saw her when she played Manchester Cathedral last month, the way she moves about and puts her whole body and posturing into her guitar playing and singing is pretty great. I got mesmerised just by the different looks she had with the changing lights on her, sometimes serene and doll-like and sometimes scary and psychotic looking, the way her shadows and the flashing lights projected onto the gothic cathedral architecture and decor was worth the ticket price in itself. Very good gig.

She's great. Not overly convinced about the latest album (apart from Digital Wintness, which is a fucking amzing song), but she;s on the bill for EOTR, so will probably keep my powder dry until then

I love her new album. Birth in reverse is one of my favourite songs of the year so far.

I was also a bit taken aback when I heard that she has postponed her uk tour dates to go on tv in America. Is that show like a massive deal over there?

Is it SNL? Think it’s pretty huge, if so, yeah.

Doesn’t exactly excuse it though. Luckily I’d only booked a ticket (which has been refunded), and I might go see her in London in October. No good for people who’ve paid for non-refundable transport/accommodation, though. Not sure I’ll see her at Glastonbury. Looks like she might clash with the Manics, who are one of them bands I’d like to see but probably wouldn’t usually buy a ticket for.

New album is probably my favourite of hers.
