The Specials & The Selecter (maybe)

Well it goes to show that its all about opinions, seen The Specials seven times since 2009 and loved every show although Neville Staple leaving has had an effect.

Never seen The Selector but given what Pauline Black said yesterday I'm really hoping they show up, nothing more guaranteed to get you dancing than a bit of Ska

I'm surprised they're still going to perform under The Specials name with so many members gone. Pack it in lads.

Yep, bit of a shame if only 4 of them are left. Probably time to stop. Saw them in 2009 in Birmingham and they were brilliant. Almost as good as when I saw them in the old days. Saw Selecter supporting PIL recently in Bristol - that was a cracking set.

Specials are amazing live - but just like how The XX don't play daytime shows, The Specials are best appreciated in a sweaty gig venue, not a wide open festival space. In their day they were better than great - one of the very best live acts I've seen. But like others I had to strain to approve of a modern day Specials sans Jerry Dammers. Take out Roddy and Neville as well, and frankly, it may be special - but it aint The Specials.
