I know it seems to be 'cool' on here not to like The Killers, but what the heck, I'm a big fan.

They're supposed to be on a break this year after the release of Direct Hits, and Brandon is meant to be working on his second solo album, but they've unexpectedly been announced for Hangout Fest in the US in the middle of May. http://hangoutmusicfest.com/

They've not played Glasto since they headlined back in 2007, and have headlined every other UK festival (some multiple times) since. Perhaps they're back on the UK festival circuit this summer? They played V in 2012, and TITP and IOW last year, can't see them at R&L so perhaps Glasto, if they come over here at all that is.

the killers are a band who have never and will never be cool. The lead singer is just far too wet and that guitarist with the frizzy hair is just awful. Therefore those that are interested in them can never be cool either.

They were great in the tent though!

The problem I have with it is that the Killers, KOL and Kasabian are just unimaginative headliners. It's like "Shit guys, we've run out of headliners.. Time to call up one of the K's", just like every other festival going. Regardless of whether they're good or not, it's getting really boring seeing their names at the top of festival line ups.

I think saying a band are very good live regardless of whether you like them is nonsensical. They are probably the very pinnacle of modern 'indie' bands in terms of what I don't like as I feel their songs are lyrically juvenile and musically contrived. And never is that more apparent than when they perform live.

However that is particular to what I look for in a band/song. I understand why someone with different tastes would love them as a live band.

i really loved that Crossfire song that Brandon did solo (rest of the album was dross)

as for The Killers, for me they're just… there. Hot Fuss was good but i haven't gone back to listen to it in a long, long time. loved When You Were Young but Sam's Town was a pretty bad album, and i just haven't bothered with everything since. Mr Brightside is good for a pissed up sing along but i could die happy if i never had to hear it again

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
