I'm pretty sure if you got a group of say 4,000 music fans between the ages of 18 - 30 and asked them which they'd prefer listening to 'One Direction' or 'Eagles' at least 3,879 of them would say 'One Direction' if you'd asked them who was lamer they'd probably say 'Eagles' thats how BADLY I believe 'Eagles' go down with the younger crowd.

There are those out there that like middle of the road American rock, though not me. i seem to remember a fair crowd turn up for Crosby, Stills and Nash in 2009 , though i don't know how far back it was as i came in from the JP side just before Kasabian. I know a few of the Eagles songs, notably " Hotel California" (of course ) , Best of my love, one of these nights, New kid in town. But i can't see how they are going to fill the Pyramid if they headlined. It's a strange one but i was never a Neil Young fan, though i know a lot of people on here are, so you never know, thats the wonder of the demographic of Glastonbury

I think the sizable crowd drawn by Paul Simon a few years back may act as a general pointer to the appetite for The Eagles's brand of mellow AOR amongst the less youthful punters at the 'sto.

They won't draw a crowd to beat that, but there likely won't be tumbleweeds either.

Oh I don't know ALL the 18 - 30 year olds but based on experience the average 18 - 30 year old music fan will gravitate to One Direction because

A) It's become quite cool to like pop music at the moment

One Direction Love can be seen as ironic

C) The Eagles are so 'unhip' that they can't even be enjoyed ironically

Remember this isn't my stance but the truth of the 'scene' as it were.

I'm 18, the only Eagles song I know is Hotel California and some of my friends wouldn't even know them, if that says anything about the younger audience.

I suspect a good deal of any potential enjoyment I attain from seeing The Eagles live might be ironic.

Especially if they do Witchy Woman.

As a group of 17 '18-30' years olds going, not one of my group would choose One Direction over the Eagles...nor would anyone else I know who doesn't have a ticket...
