William Hill have just sent a second Glastonbury press release of the day (I quoted the other one earlier in this thread).

The new one says....

Betting Suspended On Kasabian Headlining Glastonbury!

It is all but certain that Kasabian will headline Glastonbury after a number of bets on the Leicester based band with bookmakers William Hill. Offered at 6/1, their odds took a tumble before betting was suspended just before 1pm on Thursday.

“It seems that all Kasabian need to do is sign on the dotted line and they will be playing one of the most iconic sets in the world,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

knowing what I know about betting...... these type of markets take very little money even when compared with a poor horse race, however, bookies are extra cautious as the result may be pre-determined (i.e. the band has already been booked).

The amount of bets would have triggered auto suspension on this market, this happened very quickly indicating a flood of bets..... more than anything else the market will reflect the most likely outcome

conclusion - Kasabian are headlining

Which is OK cos I think they are rubbish and some of the other venues will have the opposite of them playing, I'd like to see the opposite of Kasabian

they're not that cautious - the offer odds on plenty of music stuff where loads of peeps know the pre-determined results long before betting is suspended.

In fact, the one and only time I've previously tried to place a bet was non just such a thing - but they didn't do 'specials' online at that time, and by the time i'd got to a shop they'd suspended the betting as a result of others doing much the same as me.
