The mere (moderately realistic) suggestion of LZ-1 playing at Glastonbury has made my heart die a little. Firstly, because it'll make the resale laughably difficult and, secondly, because there's a very real chance I won't be there to experience it. Not sure watching the limited bits they allow to be shown, through floods of tears, on the beeb will be quite the same.

It's a fact this year that some of the Stones' crowd - a small proportion, but noticeable enough for all that - struggled with Can't You Hear Me Knocking and Midnight Rambler, at about 9 minutes long a'piece. If the Zep decided to stretch out, then the crowd's attention span would surely start to wander.

Yeah, fair points above. But maybe the strength of Zeppelin playing practically three shows in thirty years may stimulate more interest than the Stones who pretty much haven't stopped touring since 1962?

But there are some who would stay for the first three or four songs to 'tick a box' and say 'I was there', then hot foot it over to Shangri-La.

Only to do with the scarcity of Led Zep dates over the past 30 years. If the boot were on the other foot and LZ had played regularly everywhere that would have them and it was the Stones reforming for a one-off gig - then nah.

yep, got to agree with that. It's a band who don't play, who don't tour. It's an event. It's a world away from getting a band who are already touring and set up to do all this to stop off at the farm for a reduced payday.

Precisely, if you want to See the stones, they've got a string of dates. Hyde Park, US dates, you name it. LZ different proposition entirely. This would be the one/only/last chance to see them. A lot of people would think they'd need to be in Pilton by any means neccessary.

I don't see much hypothetical about it at all. It's because of scarcity. If they could resurrect Jimi Hendrix or John Lennon or even The bloody Doors it would create even more of a furore than Led Zep ever would.
