I'd love to see that happen, but unfortunately, I can't see them playing that ever again unless they did a tour for that album (Which me, and the majority of the nation would love)

Giving an album that you consider to be dreadful a 6 is quite generous ;)

It is late though I suppose

On current listening of the new album

Whatever... - 8/10

FWN-7/10

Humbug-9/10

SIAS-7.5/10

AM - 8.5/10

Agreed they could do with a change to the set closer, a bit bored of 505 now, could do without the Alex/Miles love in as well at times. Any of A certain romance, Thats where your wrong, When the sun goes down would do me, from the new one could maybe see them finishing the main set with Knee socks (if they have QOTSA subbing them at L/R next year no doubt Josh will probably join them for that).

Haven't listened to AM yet so:

Whatever: 9.5

This album is about being in your late teens. I haven't come across an album that more accurately describes my life. So close to perfection

FWN 7.5

Maybe it was too rushed, but this is a top album, with some really good songs.

Humbug 8

A transition album. I really enjoy listen to it, and it was nice to hear a more mature sound.

Suck it and See 8

I think this will get better with age. The only detriment to it is that it doesn't have that one incredible tune like ones on previous albums. It's a triumph and really shows the skill of turner as a song writer.

Arctic Monkeys are one of my favorite bands. Whatever came out as I was getting into music, and was the first album I bought, so the band will always have a special place in my heart. I think they are easily one of the best English bands of the last decade

As for playing Reading in 2014, I don't think it's going to happen. They always have a set pattern. They headlined English fests in 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2013, followed with English tours in the autumn. American tour and then write a new album in 2014/2015.

    • Tbf that happened to me in 2022 so not a one off. 40 euros to drive down 3 streets. I'd have done a runner but the reason for getting the taxi in the first place is cos I couldn't walk no more.
    • I was fully prepared (waterproof jacket, extra pair of socks, foldable umbrella), but after four hours in the rain (from Geese through Oklou to Florence Road), it was just too much. Already at the hotel, let's hope tomorrow's better.
    • It’s rare that I watch question time, but I almost felt sorry for Kenyon, he seemed like a guy just brought off the street which effectively is what he was, made worse by the fact Burnham and the Tory guy were very strong debaters. I think Burnham was very aware not to go too hard on Kenyon and risk him getting sympathy, in fact he pretty much ignored him.
    • Shambles. Transport and comms garbage. Been looking forward to this since last June and have never been to a more disorganised festival in 30+ years.  Why we were told the whole festival was cancelled for the night if they had put back shows for a few hours?  Pissed off to say the very least and put a huge downer on the rest of the weekend.
    • Rotten communication. Actually god awful. Posting sporadically on IG, closing Mordor only to reopen and cause some serious carnage. Left the festival as it got too much for my 16year old daughter. She was devastated about Alex G and Mac…but TV girl could have saved it. Took us until 1220 and already home to find out they might/are playing. Pish.    and on another note, this festival has lost its bastard soul. Gone are the wee tents with local sellers selling vinyl, t shirts etc, now you can buy a 50 f**king eur official T-shirt. The ar*e is truely out of this event now. I went to Porto for the first time last year and it was fab. I love Barcelona and the line up is always stacked, but this festival is a corporate loss take. Hopefully a better day tomorrow.
