For some weird reason I think the libertines may have chosen a lower slot at glastonbury over reading...

Nothing but a hunch, maybe they weren't even asked for reading. I know its the sun but they do have a track record of sometimes knowing and publishing things pretty early.

That's it. You've officially become gazza, I don't know how you've managed it, but that post is fucking eerily reminiscent of the shit he used to post all the time

If linkin park are headlining lets get blur as the final headliner

that's never been done before :)

System are touring too, lets get them on the bill. Jack White can sub blur and placebo can also play!

Get Primal Scream in too, it's been a while since they played.

which it is

if they really cared about that they wouldn't book *any* headliners from the previous year's Glasto

well the headliner pool is pretty thin as it is so i guess every once in a while they have to, but to book TWO of Glastonbury's headliners would basically be saying 'Glastonbury is better so we're just gonna copy them'. be very surprised if it happens

They can get away with one, but two's a bit much

meh, surely it depends on who the bands in question are. would they have cancelled AM's spot in 2014 if the Stones had for some reason turned to Melvin and said they wanted to play after the success of their Glasto slot?

kasabian are such a stronger booking than The Vaccines that for example i just think that if it came down to a choice between those two they'd go for Kasabian all day long.

Well, no. But Kasabian aren't the Rolling Stones

I'm going for Linkin Park as the top 10 headliner, as I don't think they're similar enough to Metallica to rule them out on that basis.

To even it out though I think if you chuck in Libertines as a "lighter" band, could be our top 3? Just my opinion...

it's not even that they're too similar - it'd just be a bit weird for them to go for two fairly 'heavy' headliners when they've barely even had one heavy headliner each year lately

not the point. point is if that alleged 'rule' is in any way dependent on who the bands in question are then they should absolutely break it if it means them booking Kasabian rather than The Vaccines. The difference in day ticket sales would be unreal.

    • Aldous Harding absolutely brilliant in Dublin last night. Quirky as ever but sounded magnificent. Played everything off the new album I think, it all sounded fantastic. Band, including H Hawkline, were understated but excellent. Another one to look forward to.
    • Orbital opening the Other stage is a bold choice!
    • Great start for them
    • Thanks so much - that's very helpful. Someone else mentioned getting a train from Loughborough to East Midlands Parkway, and then a festival shuttle from there to the site. I think they were then going to come back on the Skylink Derby to Loughborough - I assume this is because the trains don't run as late as the Skylink, otherwise they would just come back the same way they came?! Is the transport hub a long way from the main stage? Just wondering what time I would need to leave Linkin Park to be sure of getting a shuttle. As I say, I am sure it will all be clear on the day, even after a few beers! Just hope the rain stays away...
    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
