Got to include that Welsh speciality Larverbread. Not bread and nothing to do with volcanoes.

It's seaweed that is washed and cooked till it becomes soft then minced to convert it into a thick black/green paste texture. Mainly harvested on the Gower coast.

Laverbread is not only tasty; it is beneficial to your health. very low in calories, rich in protein and contains over 50 known minerals and trace elements regarded as essential body requirements.

Great in a fry up with bacon but you can also use laverbread in other recipes that include lamb with laver pesto, laver ravioli, black risotto, laverbread Dahl and sauces for canapés. Laver is also a delicacy in Japan where it is mainly used for sushi meals.

Grumpyhack- I'd forgotten about laverbread! My Mum's family is from Swansea, so she always had laverbread when we went to visit them. Personally I think it's vile, but I havent had it for a while so may have to give it a go again.

As for black pudding, you're all just wrong. That said, I don't mind a faggot or two now and then, with lots of gravy.

When I was younger my nanna (god rest her soul), used to make a stew with savoury ducks, massive chunks of potatoes and onions, lovely stuff with a bit of Worcester sauce on top.

I can't normally stand tinned tomatoes BUT when hung over the morning after the night before served on toast with loads of black pepper on well that's a different story......
