I don't think Alt-J justified their headline slot in King Tuts personally. However, in the case of YYYs, I think its the same situation as with Kraftwerk. Yeah Yeah Yeahs had few other acts of the same rock/alternative genre to attract their fans to the festival.

The people booking the festival were extremely short-sighted not to see this would happen. Then again, I think they expected to get away with booking any old crap for a second year in a row and got found out.

To be fair the clientele of Lattitute is totally different to T - Kraftwerk headlined and pulled a huge crowd.

The crowd they got at T was pathetic, which I don't understand - see someone who plays the festival every year or see a legendary act who without them chances are we would have no Harris, Guetta, Daft Punk, etc.

Kids now a days don't appreciate musical legacy.

I'm going to sound like an old fart but when I was younger than the age of the younger people at T I was seeing legendary acts like Robert Plant, Iron Maiden, etc. I do think the "Ipod generation" have a massive lack of taste in music, and generally lack any depth of music knowledge.

For newer acts I know they aren't going to be played on radio one, so I have to dig a bit harder to find them, but it can be worthwhile.

i would have the Xx subbing but i actually don't see them there.

Paramore would be sub or radio 1 headline, but sub would be more my guess.

Primal scream would probs headline tuts like manics.

Example 3rd i reckon, i don't see sub quite yet.

I'd say Friday main looks fairly spot on.

Qotsa could do radio 1 headline, if indeed they are asked to play.

I'd say knowing how quick they shifted Glasgow tickets and the fact paramore had no Scottish date that they are both big contenders.

Lady gaga or jay z, one of them, the one that isn't i see at that Eminem gig thing.

I'm not bothered about XX, Id be happy with someone other than them.

Are Paramore that much bigger than MCR when they played 3rd from top in 2011?

Example could sub I reckon. His new album will only make him bigger and he was 3rd top last time.

Primal Scream Headlined king tuts last time round, thought they might like a change if they play again.

I think with the way the festival has headed the last few years (along with the poor reception for some of the rock headliners this year) that we'll be seeing at least two pop/dance headliners every night, whether that be Main and Tuts or NME and Tuts. Possible names:

Calvin Harris (could see him making the jump to Main next year if I'm honest)

Tiesto (not to my liking but could see him headlining Main too)

Avicii (if not a very poor Main headliner then NME)

Skrillex (NME headliner?)

Example (NME or sub? Possibly Tuts, depending on how the next album fares)

Steve Angello (Tuts sub or mid-NME)

Axwell

Steve Aoki

Laidback Luke

Tinie Tempah (Main Stage sub next year?)

David Guetta (He can't do the same NME slot again, surely? Perhaps Main sub/3rd?)

The Chemical Bros (I would obviously say NME headliner but I'm not sure how this new young crowd would react to them so that makes me unsure)

Prodigy (NME or Main sub if they're not bothered about the light)

Sinse it seems like a good time

FRIDAY

Biffy Clyro

Paramore

Ed Sheeran

Avicii

Manic Street Preachers

SATURDAY

Lady Gaga

Paulo Nutini

Bruno Mars

Jack White

Disclosure

SUNDAY

Arctic Monkeys

QOTSA

Franz Ferdinand

The Chemical Brothers or The Prodigy

Major Lazer (partly due to how they went down at Glasto, would be mental in a tent...)

---

Year out for Calvin Harris, Guetta, Vaccines. Prodigy if not at T at Rockness, along with Vampire Weekend and Primal Scream.

I don't think Calvin will take a year out. I reckon he'll sub Main (if Geoff doesn't take the lazy option and have him headline, he has the star power and fanbase to do it). His crowd was so big this year that I doubt he could play NME again.

Here's what I reckon there could be:

Friday

Arctic Monkeys

Franz Ferdinand

Jake Bugg

Skrillex

Disclosure

A$AP Rocky

Steve Angello

Icona Pop

Saturday

Beyonce/Lady Gaga/Katy Perry/Pink

Calvin Harris

Tinie Tempah

Paolo Nutini

Ben Howard

Ellie Goulding

Knife Party

Azealia Banks

Sunday

Kings Of Leon

Biffy Clyro (billed as co-headliners)

Fall Out Boy

Bastille (they should've been on Main this year)

Prodigy

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Lana Del Rey

Jessie J

FUN.

Biffy Clyro

Dizzee Rascal

Ed Sheeran

Chemical Brothers

Paul Weller

Green Day

QOTSA

Paramore

The Prodigy

Franz Ferdinand

Lady Gaga

Black Keys

Paolo Nutini

AVICII

Noel Gallagher

That would represent a good mix of music and credable/pop acts and would be achievable.

With the reduced price ticket offer though I can see next years lineup downsizing and the lineup will suffer further.

    • But but but Coachella, have a day off mate. It probably does drive them insane like the blood orange round stage you mentioned it stayed up the entire day so if you wanted to see anyone in that tent you had a massive area in the centre where you couldn’t stand. Its not unusual to want to have as much space for people as possible in the field

    • Same as how reform have helped to fill up the prisons and then object to the govt trying to fix things (as long as the farage rioters don't get early release).
    • for some reason I put myself through the torture of another Harlen Coben thing on Netflix, this time "Caught".   at the end of it my only emotion was I hated the main character who was supposed to be the hero.   it was her fault that two people got killed, she walks around like the FBI when she just writes a bunch of crap for an internet blog, she takes no responsibility for her actions and for some bizarre reason nobody around her holds her to account.   at the end we are meant to think she is the hero of her righteous quest - but in reality she should be in prison awaiting trial on numerous charges.   still, in the end I got exactly what I expected from Harlen Coben so I guess I have no right to moan... I'm sat here typing this whilst he is sat in his swimming pool filled with cash...     I've come to think that all these Coben adaptations are in fact all the same program, and AI just pastes different faces on the characters for each "story".   🙂
