Metallica at the Park... f*ck me that would be incredible,

Would love to see them at Glasto one day, They have enough big hits to interest casual fans and they are no where near as raucous live, and put on one hell of a show

I cannot stop myself from thinking that this + this + promotion for this = Glasto Appearance somewhere, but my left hand is clutching a fist full of straws that the National will play and it now appears my right hand is clutching at even more straws. This must mean Glasto is close :)

i honestly think Mumfords will play. the surgery, whilst semi-serious, seems to have gone well, he's recovering, and they seem pretty intent on not cancelling any more shows than they already have. maybe he'll take a turn for the worst / won't recover as fast as planned, but at the moment i'd say they're still nailed on (which is absolutely fine by me, as even though i hate them, i've kind of settled on the idea of them headlining and me being as far away as possible now). guess we'll have to wait and see

Guys and girls, let's have a one minute silence while we think about the bassist and wish him well.

Then let's get onto the topic of Mumfords replacement. I've been itching to talk about new headliners ever since this set was finalised.

Oh dear, even the ladies in our group don't seem to want to see Mumford and Sons so my wife might be the only one going. As I drag her to all sorts of stupid cr@p, I may have to step up in return (previous two attempts to be nice have been a strategic 'if you watch New Order with me I'll watch Coldplay after' in 05 (I was the one in favour of New Order) and missing Leftfield to see Travis in 2000 - I think I deserve a medal for the latter!).

I hope they don't pull out, that's a slot where I'm free to watch Cat Power, if they do pull out they could be replaced by somebody good and then they're guaranteed a spot for next year, cue millions of Bumford fans stinking out the festival.

    • Judging by last night at Wembley, Luke Combs should be in the conversation of headliner. The UK is having a moment with country music so I don't think it would be particularly left field either.

    • It feels really busy this year, loads of big groups of youngsters too. Slightly different vibe to previous years I've been. As with Tramlines, they're very chatty during sets and there's a constant stream of them in and out of the crowd... definitely feeling my age 😂   The Quarry stage I think is a lot smaller than previous years - seems similar size to Squid/Leadmill. Some sets have been difficult to get in.   I think I've reached my limit with mid-tier indie guitar bands. There's been quite a few this weekend where I've gone over to see them then walked away after 20 mins. Surprisingly, enjoyed the Fratellis set the most in this genre. Probably getting on for 20 years since I last saw them. Wasn't expecting them to do Yes Sir, I Can Boogie, which was fab!   Hugely enjoyed the Happy Mondays yesterday, and same but different with Radio Free Alice who I saw again on Friday, following Tramlines last weekend. A big run of pop acts today - Scissor Sisters will be fantastic!
    • I have a spare campervan pass to get rid of.  unable to use Kaboodle as it is only entry that they re-sell
