Best Gazebo

I'd say that's actually pretty sensible what they've done. The capacity given for tents pretty much counts for bodies only with little or no luggage/food/extras. So unless you're running your tent as a morgue, you want to get double the "size" tent for the number of people. 2 people should go for a "4 man" tent as an absolute minimum, so a 5-man doesn't sound unreasonable at all.

I don't think that's to bad, if you not with someone you want to be on top of during your stay then you can understand. Don't forget you've got all your stuff into the tent to and I think most would go for a 3 man tent for a little more room than a coffin if they were to have a tent each So what's going tape up more room 2 x 3 man tents or one 5 man tent?

You heard? I doubt that very much, but if it happen, it happens. I'm pretty sure security are busy keeping the site secure not pestering people who have put a gazebo between their tents. Gazebo or no gazebo we will be having a communal area between our tents, as will the majority of larger groups.

You'll only have a communal area if no one pitches there which, without a gazebo, they will. It's happened to us! Unless there are fields with way more space that I don't know about?

Not if we build a fire in the middle of the tents, or take a spare tent to pitch there just in case!

Ah, so you are admitting you are taking up space that someone could camp in then?

Gazebos should be banned until Friday. If there is space around you for a gazebo on Friday, knock yourself out.

We always take a 3 man tent for two people and that is plenty of room for us and all our stuff. A 5 man tent for two people is excessive!

Does that 'work' for people? Stick the gazebo over someone's tent till Friday, then stick it in the available space (if there is any) after then?

*I won't be bringing one but will have an awning next to my camper

Why is this a problem? Theres at least 16 of us camping together, if we have 1 square metre each thats 16 sq m , a 4x4 plot for us to chill in the morning and when people go back to the tents after everything has finished. How can anyone say that 1 sq m each is unreasonable?

We will be camping in one of the less popular fields, and certainly would not expect to have this space if we were in Pennards or Oxlyers or example.

The gazebo wont take up any extra space, because we will have that space in between the tents regardless of whether we take a gazebo. As I say, were going to camp where theres plenty of room , in one of the less popular fields.

Also I would not mind paying a little more for my ticket if I could be sure of having enough space to pitch my tent and have a small amount of communal space around the tents. Instead of being crammed in like sardines.

Yeah having a taped off area is badly antisocial. I usually just pull the tape down if it is my way back to my tent.

Theres a bit of a difference between pulling a bit of bunting down, and willfully vandalising someones property. As already stated, Ive never had an issue with other peoples gazebos - I personally dont find them antisocial - the complete opposite if anything. 5th Glasto this year, never taken one before but this year its a large group and were taking one for a bit of communal space.

I do think that latecomers to the festival are unfairly penalised - everyone is not always in a position to get on site by Wednesday , so I do think the Eavii should reserve some of the camping fields to open them on Thursday, maybe even Friday so those arriving later can get a decent spot. They have paid their money too after all.

But why should they have to keep some of the fields closed until Thursday? If some festival goers didn't bring gazebos and/or tents that are way bigger than they need, then there would be more than enough room for everyone!
