4AssedMonkey
Not wanting an argument but curious how the people that can only listen to an album are able to see a band do a mix of their stuff in a set rather than a wall to wall album set. James Bolivar
Growing up listening to prog you really have no option but to listen to the whole album, but these days I mix&match, listen to whole albums, do playlistists, use shuffle and stream. Very few artists make music for the art, they do stuff to please their audience and the second they do that what they make is product and the consumer is free to use it as s/he will. As for vinyl, I've never understood fetishizing objects, but each to their own.

Ed209
Any Floyd Album should be sat down and listened to from start to finish with a short interruption in the middle, like watching a play with an intermission. Wish you were here in particular. For me I have sadly joined the Shuffle all generation now, but there are still a few records which can only be played as a single work. Spindles
I hadn't really considered my unconscious colour referencing, if I had I would have presented it in the form of a shit anecdote or something. I have so easily forgone all previous formats and now I mostly just hit shuffle all on a device rather than spend solid time with albums as I once would. Albums that I do find coming back around include both the Damien Rice albums, Battle of Los Angeles by RATM, The Bends (natch) and for the last year or so the most frequently played has to be Backspacer from PJ. My taste is pretty mainstream compared to most round here.
