baby sleeping arrangements

Hi everyone,

We'll be bringing our 6 month old with us this year, and are wondering about sleeping arrangements. We've got a 4 man tent with 2 sleeping compartments about the size of a double airbed each. I'll be in one with our rucksacks, and my wife will be in the other with the baby. Any suggestions what's best for a baby to sleep in?

and make sure you spend some time in the kids field in the baby tent!! there is a tent ran by midwifes which has everything you would ever need for your baby, including baby bath times :)

We had your exact layout when taking our 11 month old back in 2011, I slept with the baby on a double sleeping bag on top of some camping mats. I covered myself with a single duvet and the baby slept in his 'gro-bag' with a blanket over him too. I would be aware that's it not advisable to cover baby with a thick duvet, especially at six months of age, or co-sleep on an air bed. Im all for co-sleeping so long as its safe! We'll be doing similar this year with our daughter who will be four months by then.

Well, I think your biggest worry will be keeping your baby warm. I'd suggest looking for a 3.5 tog grow-bag, and have something warm and comfortable for him/her to wear in the bag. That should take you down to around 12c or so. Any colder than that and I think it's cuddled up with Mom in her bag.

If s/he is in the bag with Mom be very careful. Sliding under the covers is a concern for cot death. Oh and I'd have the baby sleep towards the inside of the tent. People do sometimes fall into them.

Stay away from any kind of combustion heater, or even running a camp stove in the tent. There was an awful case close to where I live recently where a family died from Carbon Monoxide in a tent.

Make sure you bring baby sunscreen and some form of portable shade. Babies need extra protection from the blazing sun we will be having. Seriously, even if it's overcast pay attention,

Sorry for all the negative things above. just things to be careful of. And don't pay attention to the people who say it's a bad idea. You'll all have a great time.

Do you have children? Are you speaking from any experience at all?

We've got a 7 year old who has been going to festivals since he was 6 months old. He's never come to any harm.

We're taking our 6 month old baby to Pilton this year. We know exactly what we're doing and are sure that it's the right thing to do. If we weren't we wouldn't do it.

We are, though, in a caravan, so cant help with the OP's conecrns.

    • Hezbollah rejected it. Really Israel should get the f**k out, and US and others should support the Lebanese govt in defeating Hezbollah.
