Yeah it might end up being BFMV, I was thinking Black Stone Cherry as they are only doing Rock AM Ring and then a show on the Saturday so would be able to play Sunday and its not really a touring cycle its just the two Rock AM Ring shows, the euro fest on the Saturday then Download, plus with them just doing those small shows last month in the UK thought they might be up for doing similar at Download, plus they took a big spot last year and a 'surprise' slot would work well AND they are playing Arenas later this year.

BUT BFMV have no shows, not doing Soni and love Download, so yeah probably will end up being them.

Aren't Trivium still doing their Download 2007 [i think] set anyway? Think thats what I heard.

Yeah, fests rarely just advertise half price/cheap tickets. In 2011 they shifted the cheap tickets on the back of magazine subscriptions.

Our group are less than ethusiastic about this years line-up but we've all been entering the competitions that are springing up as if it means we can go cheaper (or ideally free) then it makes it much more attractive.

All depends how many tickets the fest have allocated for freebies, if it's 50 pairs I don't fancy our chances, if it's 500 pairs then we might be laughing. Download wins as the fest is fuller & these extra people still buy food, drink & merch. All depends how much of a dent Soni, Hyde Park & Alt Fest have made to Downloads numbers I guess?

Dunno, will decide the week of the fest & see what the weather's looking like. Got the time off work booked & I can cancel my holidays last minute if I need to (work would be glad!). As it stands, personally I'm leaning towards going purely as it's become an annual thing, my mates are less enthusiastic. The general concensus being that this years bill lacks that one, big killer act to get excited about.

There are about 100 Download tickets for sale on GetMeIn at the moment. Obviously as we’re still a couple of months away they’re still at silly prices (like it’d sell out?!?) but they’ll come right down nearer the time. Mate bought a lower tier Sabbath ticket for Manchester from there for £20 a few day prior to the show.

I agree about Download missing that one 'killer' act, but for me its maybe moreso I've seen everyone pretty much who held that WOW factor for me.

The act i'm dying to see again is Faith No More and thankfully I will at the Sabbath gig.

Im more impressed with the line up this year having lots of acts Ive not seen before. So that levels it out for me. Plus I gave Download a miss last year after doing 4 in a row and went Reading so im raring to get back to Download this year.

    • I agree the prices are tough for locals. You can see if Porto timetable is the type that works for you and it's a terrific city. Also cheaper. https://www.primaverasound.com/es/porto/lineup-porto
    • thanks XXialac! i guess for us the most important aspect will be a festival that starts very late in the day, specially in these southern countries were it can be really hot! The combination of visiting a new city, having good lunches and enjoying a festival is a absolute must for us. Also, we like headliners but the undercard is just as important; truly enjoyed Men I trust, NewDad, Big Thief this year so from that angle it is not really a big thing if a festival is somewhat smaller.    Apparently my bad, i had 5 in my system but 0.5 (10%) increase is still huge. I am not sure how teenagers can afford these prices............
    • That second part was how I felt about Rock IM Park this year trying first. I found that when it gets to like the 3rd act on the main stage down, you've gotta make a choice to miss anything leading up might not enjoy and it's sometimes while closer for not a great view as everyone in turn has to make the call too. Being short doesn't help as I'd just be able be further bacm but still see.
    • I wasn’t slagging Scooter off, they are undeniably silly. As I said, they are the definition of a meme booking for Download. People requested them for years because it was silly.
