This was on Classic Rock an interview with Earl Slick -

Slick admits some of his plans for 2013 are on hold in case Bowie decides to tour. “Obviously, we want him to,” he says. “But right now that’s a big ‘if’. Sometimes he shows up and sometimes he doesn’t. I could get a phone call tomorrow saying, ‘Hey, you know what? Here’s the setlist.’

“Obviously the band would love to go out. Even if it’s not a huge tour, we would like to go out and do some gigs. But that’s yet to be seen.”

I'm as skeptical as everyone else about Bowie touring but something about this gives me the impression that it has been discussed about rather than a straight out no he doesn't want to tour at all.

like anyone was really thinking it was possible, I remain certain the video is filmed with him lying down - the old china bloke isn't well, bless im.

Visconti replied: "He’s fairly adamant he’s never gonna perform live again…" = no more shows ever.

No chance - he'd headline or not play at all. And he won't be playing at all. There's not much ambiguity about "He’s fairly adamant he’s never gonna perform live again…".

Even if you think "fairly adamant" might not be an absolute, it's absolute enough that he won't change his mind in time to be ready to play in June.

If he plays a secret set at the Park, I'll eat some of Justiceforcedave's ball quiche, and provide the scrotum and hot custard for dessert.

More interview material from Tony Visconti and Earl Slick

http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2013/jan/12/david-bowie-how-made-next-day

Make of it what you will.

Visconti: "He's singing very low-key on the single. A lot of people have misinterpreted that, thinking that he's going to sound old and frail on this record, but for that song he wanted to sound vulnerable. Big difference. Elsewhere, he's singing in full voice, that voice you hear on Heroes, so loud that I literally had to step away from him in the studio."

"Tony Visconti also seems delighted to be rid of two years of subterfuge, non-disclosure agreements and, as he bluntly puts it, "bare-faced lies".

As previously discussed here, Visconti said recently that Bowie won't tour the album

Visconti said today that Pitchfork made up the quote about him never playing live again. He's stated that he won't tour but that Bowie may do a show to support the new album as a one-off. Visconti also said he was relieved to hear him say this. I know he won't do it but if you were going to do a one-off show, where better than Worthy Farm?!

In the Grauniad piece, Visconti also said that Bowie is "obsessed with medieval English history".

Anyone ever bumped into him up the Tor ?

The Womble suit would have been a dead giveaway

From a Billboard interview with Visconti published on Friday

"Did he say anything about touring or playing live?"

"He said no, absolutely not. He said to me, "I've played live for 30-odd years and given interviews, and I don't want to do either of them anymore." They kind of fall into the same bag, the way he thinks. He just wants to make records. He feels like that's what he's entitled to do now."

Later that day, he goes on his own Twitter account with this

"I never said Bowie would never perform live again. Pitchfork made that up. He won't tour for this album -- that's all I said. "

https://twitter.com/Tonuspomus

Now in today's Telegraph we get him saying

"he hasn’t ruled out that he might do a show. It was a relief to me to hear that he was open to that"

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/rockandpopmusic/9797475/David-Bowie-is-healthy-and-may-even-sing-in-public-again-says-Tony-Visconti.html

Confusing ? Or just part of the game ? If he's playing anywhere this year, I'll bet all concerned have signed an NDA

As a PR exercise in getting free publicity however, this is going like clockwork. Quelle surprise, here he is aged 17 getting free national media coverage on his name change from Jones to Bowie. Worth watching if only for the 'Baldermaston' quip

From the Telegraph today...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/music-news/9806038/Tony-Visconti-spills-the-beans-on-David-Bowies-new-album.html

'I'm really adamant I'm not gonna do a tour.' And he said, 'If I might, I might do one show.' But who knows when."

I'm amazed this guy kept his mouth shut long enough for the single and album to be a surprise.

I'm going to clinch at really small straws now, but a tour page at www.davidbowie.com was made a few days ago, that didn't exist before and isn't on any links on the website. Just from a logical point of view, why the hell would that be made if nobody was anticipating it to be used?

/this means it's 100% confirmed you know

The 'one-off' show is interesting, I mean would he risk his first full show in about 9 years being a Glasto headline show? Unless he planned on a couple of warm-up shows I can't see him going straight from nothing to that! No doubting he'd pull it off though if it were to happen
