True, as I say it was just a suggestion, not even for next year maybe but sometime in the future?... It's just with him saying he'd like to branch out more and book 'heavier' acts, I rekon alternative acts like FNM, Jane's Addiction etc would be more suited than say Metallica.

i reckon the maccabees or foals are in for a good shout for friday night headliner next year. maybe even The Maccabees headlining with Foals underneath to strengthen it up a bit for the people who think either would be too weak.

rob loves both and either would fit in the friday night slot (florence, pendulum, dizzee etc etc)

I have a feeling Maccabees will be at IOW next year, not sure where from, but seems like they'd fit in there.

Good shout with Foals, I reckon someone like them or Bloc Party will do Friday night. Chase and Status perhaps.

Indeed, I think the UK is missing a festival to cater for the 'alternative cross over' market in the way that Phoenix & R&L used to do. (Though I'm not saying Bestival is necessarily the place to do that)

Yeah I'd love to see a festival go down that route, the rumours of Phoenix coming back had got me excited, but alas it came to nothing. I'd love to see a UK festival similar to Primavera, but also with camping. I think there could be a market for it.

Bloc Party, Jake Bugg, Blondie and Macabees out of the running ( on the basis of them playing IOW festival)

What about Specials? Playing another tour next May...

Have a feeling Mumfords are real likely. If they don't headline R&L like people think they will. Doesn't seem right though.

If Alt-J aren't at IOW, I can imagine them being pretty high up at Bestival.

Not sure who else to suggest as most of the bands that really fit in at Bestival have already headlined.
