I heard that it was revealed in one of yer gossip magazines that Hayley Williams was at school with Miley Cyrus, and bullied the shit out of her for being Billy Ray Cyrus' daughter. Now I can't confirm in any way that this is true, but if it is, doesn't that make you respect Paramore just a little bit?

Pffft, we hate bullying in this forum

Would you be disappointed with one of them instead of two? I dunno.

It's more the other thing I said anyway. But I'm not putting words in mouths, it's just my thoughts on it. Probably pushed along by the fact I don't really want them there as it'd be a disservice to Queens and I'd have to bloody go!

He did say the co-headliners were obvious, and Queens are the most predicted band. He also said many people had guessed it, and that was the most-predicted pair.

Aside from that, Gazza sent me a massive essay about why it was obvious AM wouldn't be doing R&L. Lol.

Blink get so much hate yet Green Day are loved when they're so f'ing similar.

but green day are actually good....

Not even close to definite. If Foos & Muse couldn't just be sure fire sell outs, there's no way in this earth that Blink can.

QUESTION; Who would be a better booking - Paramore to headline 2014, or Blink?

Paramore no question

I'm not sure what luckysalt meant exactly, that was just my impression too

I just hope at least QOSTA would be next year's up-and-coming

Don't you think it would be a big mistake having too pop punk bands like Paramore and Blink headlining? Surely you're going to get just a bunch of one group of people as apposed to appealing to EVERYONE?

Arctics will be there=mods everywhere

Mods will outweigh the Paramore/blink fans

Agree and there's one more reason for blink-182 should never, never, never have been booked in the first place

Well 2nd on NME last year and a new album out since would probably mean 4th on Main Stage?

Plus you can't say the 3 year thing. First year he was on FR and didn't even have an album out.

It'd only be as bad as Foals playing again this year as a sub. IMO

Dont really want Foals subbing TBH (controversial)... I just think JB isnt a very inspiring act :(

I wish they had chosen some other bands to announce first... they just wernt a very good selection IMO

So is luckysalt right then, are we definitely assuming that AM are headlining now?

A bullshitting source wouldn't have guessed Blink. The reason we doubted him was because we thought that was unlikely and his source had got wires crossed rather than thinking Lucky was a bullshitter, with this news it's hard not to see him being right on all fronts.

Yeah I agree with you. I don't think he or Foals should be there in 2014.

Yep totally. Don't understand why they would announce acts that played this year as the first acts for next year. Seems pretty stupid tbh

The co-headline will be QOTSA and Tool, and the NME headliners against Blink and AM will be PJ Harvey and Neutral Milk Hotel. Believe!

That's my line :ninja:

I saw the line-up and thought you chaps in here wouldn't be taking it so well, but it's worse than I thought, you're all bloody suicidal in here! Chins up, all of you, they could still announce RATM! And you've got Metronomy, they're great. I know Blink are shit, but you guys remember who headlined Festival Republic last time Blink were on? British Sea Power! And Klaxons were on NME.

Exactly. #WhyNotRATM

Admittedly, I don't mind Hayley as much now.

I'm sorry. Have you missed our #WhyNotRATM ?

also, what are the reasons? :ninja:

Gazza please PM me :( im missing out with this whole PMing thing!!

i will respond and everything!

Me too :ninja: Not that i'm desperate or anything :ninja:

Two headliners of a similar genre/style is surely too narrow a target audience though?

It could be argued that they thought they wouldn't be able to contend with Soni and Download so decided against a headliner of that ilk.

Having said that, they could've got a different genre still.

Pop punk is steeped in R+L tradition though. It's allowed.

Four year repeats though... :nono:

Totally. The best thing about the Reading Festival for me is (now was) that they always try to bring new lineups and headliners. I am very, very disappointed about this decision.

Paramore were flamed in 2010, not so much in 2012, I personally thought they were shite still, but as a whole the performance seemed better.

Blink reception was positive post festival 2010 and they blew paramore away.

Yeah it's a little early to repeat a headliner, but with 2 more albums (maybe, after it took them so long to release neighbourhoods and a year delay in the arena tour because of it) at least they are gonna have new material to play (not that many would wanna hear it over the 'old hits') is no difference to having Arctic's play after 2 more albums and a truly awful performance, even though they have a year extra in between.

I don't think Arctic's blink and paramore (even with a better Co headliner) are a particularly strong set of headliners but that's mainly based on past performances. However it looks just as strong as last year's top three.

If the subs and undercard turn out some gems as good as last years I would be tempted to go.

Like others have said there have been 7 acts announced, and after last years first announcement I wasn't that impressed other than with deftones. If I remember rightly Eminem also got a negative announcement.

I wasn't sold on last year until NIN SOAD and Biffy were announced. So I'm reserving all judgement until we have a fuller picture of the line up.

    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.
