Proof is the best song on the new album.

The clashfinder has Nero playing 90 minutes? Not even headliners play that long so they definitely won't.

That's because Bombay are finishing before Arctics start. Therefore at the moment I've just assumed they'll play for as long as possible seeing as they'll have all that time, but yeah they might have a big gap or finish the stage early.

ATDI and Jane's Addiction were both given 90 minutes weren't they? Maybe ATDI had 75. But yeah it's unlikely Nero will get 90.

Are people still really up for & excited for Reading/Leeds this year? People seem (apart from a few on here) to have given up on it

Search Reading fest on Twitter and you'll see that several people are really excited. You may not like them, hell neither do I, but they're still excited Reading goers.

My £0.02 worth, knowing the NME:

On the list, should be on the list:

David Bowie

The Velvet Underground

Joy Division

New Order

Will be on the list, you could make an argument for them at a push but they shouldn't really:

Oasis

The Strokes

Should under no circumstances be on the list but this is the NME so they will be:

Arctic Monkeys

I'm getting more excited. I mean, it's basically all bands I've seen before apart from some tiny ones, but there are bands I like a lot on all day Friday and Saturday. QotSA and BBC I'm pretty hyped for,

The Sunday is shite, though.

All three of the bands have influenced a lot of other bands though...

Sure, but it'll be stupid for Oasis to be in there and the Beatles not given how half of the former's stuff basically rips off the latter.

Stupid enough for the NME to do it.

I did put the 'you could make an argument for them at a push' proviso in there to cover my back :P. Arctics is a step too far imo though.

I think it seems that way because on here people usually stop posting in this section when they stop going, but the current crop seem to never want to leave, and most newcomers (rightfully) get frightened away whenever they read these threads, so it's ended up with a load of people who don't like the lineup and won't go.

    • On the whole then, yay or nay...I've had a look on festivals united and there's people who seem converted by Rock Im Park, I can imagine it might be different if it was a washout as RaR is tarmac.   The hotel side would be more to convince the non campers if it's an option. On my first visit to rock am ring we were shuttled into the area where you could stick the car next to the tent which was fantastic as it meant zero lugging of camping gear.
    • An interesting thing this. Having seem them several times (some of their gigs veer into back catalogue niche territoty), I partly agree they arent Pyramid material (theough modern defeinition of 'bangers' although I could see them headlinging the Other stage) I can't think of another festival in the world that they couldn't headline - Reading, IoW, BST, Rock Wercheter, Roskilde, etc etc.
    • Ohhh it’s very, very good.
    • I'm sure you like silly music too but is it because it's not a Download traditional type act it gets looked down on? Rock am Ring booked them, and they sell every year so don't actually need to   Andy going and being replaced is the best thing that could have happened to Download, someone fresh to mix it up a bit rather than just a complete rotation. The only reason Andy booked ST in ti headline too was because he loves them and he was going on to manage them. Nah, Andy booked FOB in a year where over 20 acts were asked, I'll guarantee if they get Blink and having had Green Day they did not need 20 bands to come to those. FOB are also not one that have been booked in Europe to headline by anyone other than Reading as co-headliner as far as I can see. They weren't a ooh god yes they've booked FOB.
