Im hoping the headliners are just playing earlier in the lower tents, ala feeder last year on fr, tho that still seems like a cop out to me. Shortning the days on lock up/fr might be the last straw for me. Those tents have been my salvation a few times in the past few fests.

I guess it wouldn't be so bad if there was actually something to do through the night, but at Reading there really isn't anything other than going back to camp or the silent disco (which is a bit crap).

DJ's playing, like Bassnectar last year, playing is a decent alternative, although they shouldn't over-do, and with the introduction of a 3 day dance stage, plus Skrillex headlining the NME, seems kind of pointless.

Perhaps it's a sign they needed to cut back a bit to fund the new stages?

(This is all assuming the stages are indeed finishing early of course :P)

I thought maybe the booker could have thought in advance to Arctics being in competition with other fests, and whatever other acts there might be that could cost a fair bit, if they carried it over they could use it to get bigger names on exclusives.

Letting this year be a bit shit, seeing as it will still probably sell out closer to the festival, then being able to use the cash to make next year massive. It's what I'd do anyway, probably too intellectual for a festival booker :ninja:

I'm just going to reiterate how funny the options are for the Sunday night at Leeds if these stages are finishing early. Eminem/Alt-J/Magnetic Man/Devlin. Wow.

However, if the stages finishing early allows me to see King Prawn, Merchandise and ASIWYFA, who it previously looked like I'd be missing due clashes, I won't mind. And if the headliners are on during C&S I'll still see one of British Sea Power or Tomahawk.

All in all, I don't mind either way.

In regards to the stages finishing earlier I guess thats a results of more stages. You increase the number of stages but not the number of people are you spread the crowd even more! Some bands already get ridiculously small crowds so if more 'headliners' played at the same time you risk it becoming embarrassing.

This way the big bands on smaller stages will probably get bigger crowds. Just playing devils advocate here not saying thats the actual reason just a musing
