2013 Lineup

Tool above SOAD and NIN below Biffy. :ninja:

In all seriousness though, this would be perfect for me (minus Eminem and FOB)...

Black Sabbath

System of a Down

Deftones

Alt-J

Jake Bugg

Eminem

Bloc Party

Editors

YMA6

The Gaslight Anthem

Biffy Clyro

Nine Inch Nails

Fall Out Boy

Crystal Castles

Rise Against

If NIN were to sub, the Biffy day would make most sense, as they're the 2nd heaviest sub, and Biffy are likely the 2nd heaviest headliner.

But again most book for the top spots.

There are only 2 top spots left main stage. 4 spots NME. A lot would be put off by how alternative it is up top. They are hardley gonna announce the lower stages in the announcement. By the time they come to announce all of the casuals will have booked up for other fests.

C'mon indie people, it'll still be littered all over the lineup. Yes there might not be the big guns like arctic and kol but they have both played more recently, and those lineups actually stopped me attending. So yes reading are not catering to people who want to see arctics every year, but its got me and a lot of my mates back potentially by having abit of variety again, instead of just indie indie indie pop.

I think as long as there is a far bit of indie throughout the lineup them lot will be happy. I think they must be trying to get that small sonisphere market that is out there. Biffy, SOAD, Deftones, Linkin Park, NIN should please them. While they could have bands like ermmm Noah and the Whale, Foals etc

Treating people who like indie as a lesser class who can settle with the dredges of the line up is all well and good but when it comes to ticket selling, not so brilliant. People go to festivals - especially the fickle indie types - for the big acts, and if they all cater to a similar audience that they are not part of, people will simply not go. It may win all the best line up awards, but the least attended ones aren't far behind. Last year 6 of the top 9 acts would be described as indie. That's not going to drop to below 3.

Yeah but these indie giants aren't available, they have played readings last few years excessively and so they aren't there this year. Like I said, yes less indie people might go, but its getting me back, and 08 which was a arguably "heavy" year did just fine in terms of sales. You win some you loose some, a heavier reading fest in 2013 isn't going to kill off the festival
