Like I said, yes less indie people might go, but its getting me back, and 08 which was a arguably "heavy" year did just fine in terms of sales. Yeah I pretty much agree there, editors usually put a message on there facebook if there going to get announced for a fest.

So think im safe enough.

2008's line up was heavy in parts, but then they had stuff like The Fratellis quite high up. There was a lot of indie landfill that year.

A bad line up doesn't just affect one year. It will affect the next as well. It's a very precarious position for festivals to be in at the moment. One wrong move and you're fucked.

Will be interesting to see who is in V fests announcement - im particularly interested to see if Haim are because before they were rumoured for V i thought they were really likely for Reading with NME and Radio 1's backing

To be fair, NIN could make sense...assuming Biffy are the sunday and Fall Out Boy are 3rd down, what other viable options would seem to fit between FOB and Biffy?

The XX would be weird and i can see Bloc Party as ideal under Eminem.

The Prodigy could fit but for some reason, i just cant see them subbing to a band that played lower than them last year at download.

I think what someone was saying a few posts back about having 1 big indie act that gets people there - Welcome to eminem, your indie replacement bringing in the rap/pop genre. Don't forget there's a new booker this year too, so there's a reason for a slight difference in audience market. I'm sure he knows what he's doing and again, he seems to be bringing me and the rock crowd back along with a bunch of eminem fans.....yay

Yeah but 08 had a much more mainstream accessible heavy set of bands. Metallica, slipknot, tenacious d, rage, QOTSA, and they also had 2 of the most popular mainstream act of the time in the killers and bloc party.

i see bloc under biffy as weak, on the poster, there is no denying biffy clyro next to eminem looks a weak band but with NIN underneath, they might not be R&L directly but they have an appeal.

Eminem is nowhere near as relevant as the killers were in 08! With a heavy lineup, eminem seems heavy, and to an extent would be popular amongst a lot of the heavier fans.

Agreed. What indie headliner would be available this year though? Arctics are presumably elsewhere, Strokes were recent as were Arcade Fire...

We can go certain years without an indie headliner, there wasn't really one last year.
