2013 Lineup

Because Kaiser Chiefs fitted so well with Sunday this year. And Bombay Bicycle Club with everyone except The Cure that played Friday. I don't think it matters much. In fact I'd say it's likely - a spread of acts across the days will sell more weekend tickets (in theory).

Finally, stick on We Are Not Good People or Kettling and tell me they don't fit in with the rest of those bands wink.png. They wouldn't do it, but if they wanted they could play a setlist which would go with everyone else on that day perfectly well.

I know, some bookings do look strange, it just causes a lack of cohesion and ruins the whole feel of the stage on that day. Put them in your Friday or Saturday and then put something like QOTSA subbing on the Sunday, and it would just mold better as a festival I think...

QOTSA are at Download... that is the problem anyone who really fits there arent around or arent big enough anymore.. the only other one are Biffy who I think when they next play Reading will headline... I think with Bloc Party's newer style they would fit on the heavier day anyway..

The Prodigy under Sabbath I reckon. Jack White could maybe fit, just because I think he could fit under most headliners. Then there's Soundgarden if they're not bothered about repeating Download's top two from this year. Then there's outside bets like Tool and Nine Inch Nails.

Prodigy could easily headline a fest next year... plenty of options and after headlining a massive fest like Download why would they sub at Reading under an arguably smaller headliner... Jack White I don't see touring... Soundgarden would be amazing but dont see Reading so blatantly copying and arguably Soundgarden and Black Sabbath as top two really doesn't fit at Reading... Tool have taken so long to tour the UK surely they will headline a fest when they bother to play here... NIN if they do tour in 2013 then fair enough but again I don't see why they woudln't headline a fest after a decent time away.

But The Prodigy probably don't have said options. I don't think there's one festival in England which would give them a headline slot this year.

And Black Sabbath won't fit as a top two at Reading with anyone. It'll fit even less with a dissimilar band and it'll put Sabbath fans off buying tickets.

Yeah to be fair I don't think there's a chance in hell of Tool subbing.

The Prodigy for me. Or Biffy if they aren't given a year off so that they can headline in 2014.

They did Bestival a couple of years ago, so that's unlikely. And I wouldn't say a headline slot at any of those (besides IOW and Soni) is more prestigious than a sub slot at R&L. Isle Of Wight probably wouldn't have offered them headline based on their actual headliners for this year, and Soni getting Download's weakest headliner from this year would be stupid.

Yes they may have done Bestival recently... but they havent done IOW since 06, never done Latitude, pretty certain Prodigy havent headlined Creamfields since 06, pretty certain they havent done Global Gathering since 09 and they have never done Soni... so not exactly played many recently as far as fests go

Edit: They have played Reading more recently than alot of them.

Yeah this is a very good point, at venues like this tickets for a lot of younger/newer acts are far cheaper than established acts (sometimes up to half) which gives an inflated sense of demand. I'm not sure if this is deliberate or whether these tickets are being pitched at tenagers who don't have much cash, but either way it's a factor.
