Yeah that is a good point but I dont think it would make a massive difference. I know the younger audience will get their results then see R&L as an excuse to celebrate (I did a few years ago) but a large majority of tickets get sold months before exam results day and most wouldnt even results day when buying a ticket.

Yes, but I don't think people really care what their results are, they can use R&L to celebrate or commiserate. It'll obviously never happen as it would be stupid really, but I think the point still stands that timing is a primary reason for going for a large amount of R&L's core demographic.

Yep, the bank holiday might persuade a few older folk to. It was a factor for me last year as I only had to take the thursday and friday off from work...

Would be interesting one year for one of the festivals to just go 'for a change, we are going to have a 4 day festival next year' just to see how it goes, it doesn't have to be every year, just couple of years or something like that, just to mix it up

The thing is, i don't think any festival is in a position to mess with a formula. I suspect most festivals have to plan two to three years in advance and need success the previous year to ensure it goes ahead. I agree it would be interesting, but unfortunately, I don't think the festival market is the place to take risks.

I'd agree. As with the next post saying it means jack shit for Reading and Leeds. Black_Crow said from reading the Sonisphere UK posts they they will have Black Sabbath, I couldn't say yes or no really but were in talks and touring next year.

I think The Prodigy would have been a great booking for them to have got a UK Exclusive on. A big ticket seller, especially for that size festival.

Virtually everything Black_Crow says is utter bollocks, doubly so if it's related to Soni in any way.

As Neil said Black Sabbath were in talks, I reckon that means they've got a good chance of headlining R+L, Soni collapsing further won't impact, because if they were going to do Reading, they would have agreed to whether Soni was going ahead or not, and if they were going to do Soni (which I consider unlikely given they stated they couldn't get suitable headliners), then R+L would have failed to reach an agreement with them and presumably have sorted out an alternative.
