I know there have already been a few MCR threads leading up to the festival but i just thought i'd get peoples opinions now that the event has finished. So were sceptics impressed? Fans disappointed? Or were your initial thoughts proven right?

I'm a fan, and I was slightly dubious of their announcement, I thought there time had been and gone, and although Danger Days was an incredible album, that alone wasn't good enough for a headline spot. However, I was very excited to see them live for the first time.

My god. They were everything I expected, and even more. Such a highlight, didn't need anything other than them, the music, and a few lights. Such a good atmosphere and to see however many people were in the crowd singing along to Welcome to the Black Parade was just incredible.

One criticism... why no Brain May at Leeds?

only watched a bit at the back before i went to horrors, was really impressed with their stage production and in general they sounded good, so yes i say they did pull it off.

One of best headline acts I've ever seen at Leeds :-D n yeah only reason Brian May would do reading is for tv coverage. As much as i loved queen Brian seems to perform with anyone who will let him! Leeds got 2 extra MCR songs at least!

They were absolutely amazing at Reading! Band of the weekend for me. Getting to hear S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W live for the first time was cool.

Brian May only performed at Reading because 2 days later he was performing with Lady Gaga at the MTV VMAs!

I'm not the biggest fan but they surprised me. A much better performance than previous ones I've seen. Brian May wasn't at Leeds because he was at the mtv awards performing with Lady Gaga

i thought they were amazing and one of the highlights for me. they seemed to really put the effort in and i think they've proven that they deserved the headline slot.

I didn't watch them, but from what other slightly sceptical people have told me they held their own up there.

They were brilliant. I've never been a fan before but they totally blew me away. Pretty much everyone else in my camp thought the same too.

One thing which did make me laugh when I watched them on TV, was when Gerard Way asked the crowd if this was their first time seeing MCR, a huge portion of the crowd seemed to cheer and he had this look of surprise on his face.

But yeah, not a fan of MCR and I never have been but they did look like they were playing a headline-worthy set, and it's always nice to see people silence their doubters whatever the circumstance.

Is it just me that thought they werent amazing? I was a fan before and still am however would not seen them live, I thought they had good effects and that was it, his voice was way to weak you could barely hear him over the instruments, weak voice or got the sound stuff wrong, either way poor performance in that section and I was inbetween the 2 speakers..

Compare that to Pulp who were amazing live, great all round balance everything was so clear.

Also I don't know why, nerves, excited, whatever but every other word seemed to be f*ck/f*cking/mother f*cker, which just seemed a bit stupid to me.

i went just to see how they did .. and was completely shocked how amazing they were!! i think if they annonced a uk tour now i would be tempted to get tickets and im not even that big of a fan !

I didn't really enjoy their set but I really am not a fan of the music. Went to see them with the girlfriend though and was really impressed with them, they definitely seemed to appreciate being there and enjoy playing which came through and made a difference. Wasn't the same level of success story as Arcade Fire were last year but really pleased they pulled it off.

they were outstanding, it has to be said. Was a massive fan back in the day but didn't think they could pull it off that well. Without doubt one of the best headliners I've seen at the festival.
