So was anyone keeping an eye on the biggest game of the weekend? Championship 1st VS 2nd Southampton and Reading. 3-1 The Royals we are top now and most likely going up!!!!!!

Meanwhile in China, Anelka's first game as player manager went well. They lost and he got booked for diving.

However dire Liverpool and Carroll are, that goal has effectively put us in Europe. 12 points ahead of 7th place with 5 games to go. Carroll's done it when it helps us out

In fairness to Liverpool they reacted and were slightly better 2nd half. Not sure what the reaction would be if they lost.

I think cup experience is huge in these games, the likes of man u, liverpool, arsenal and chelsea rarely lose semi finals unless they are playing each other. Evertons tactics let them down today, they went 1-0 down and then went all out to protect the lead, fair enough against barcelona but not against a team below you in the league with poor form. I thought liverpool deserved to win because they were trying to win more, today also confirmed what I had felt previously, Carragher is a great servant who achieved more than he should for his talent, however its time to pension him off.

Just got back. Poor first half, good second half. Nowhere near as bad as was made out by your original post though. Ultimately we just dominated the 'form' team in the league after a tough run of form. Everton didn't really create a chance did they?

Finally shown some character these last two games. I'm pleased.

Yeah, I do feel sorry for Distin. Would everyone be feeling as sorry for Carragher and Agger had it stayed 1-0 though?

Good point. Carragher is just past it though. Nice to see him get another Wembley performance in before he goes but hope he looks long and hard at his future this summer.

Oh and made up for Brad Jones. A horrible year and he was absolutely made up after the final whistle. Well in Brad.

A few recent games aside, Agger and Skrtel have looked like a very good partnership. Skrtel in particular is a beast of a defender, he made an absolutely magnificent clearance against us over Christmas.

To be fair the worst run in form coincided with Agger's injury. Not a coincidence I don't think...

As for that clearance, was the best I've seen this season. I was sat at the other end and was sure it was in.

It's up there, but I'd be inclined to hand that to some of our clearances at Old Trafford. Why can't Simpson play like that every week?

The 'there was contact' argument is relevant when discussing if a player dived or not.

To me it looked like Ashley Young was fouled and then he dived to highlight that to the referee. It is a contact sport but without contact there is no foul!

My problem with it is that contact does not always mean a foul.

Just saw it there and I agree with Jaybles. Peno and a dive. He did clip his foot but Young tried to make sure he clipped the other foot off him too and the split legged swan dive was "dramatic" as Fergie said.

No doubt Fergie will have a word with him now. As he did with Nani, who has since cut that sort of nonsense out of his game.
